I don't see why they couldn't just redo the vocals of Sonic Drive in English (not as a literal translation, as phrases like "biorhythm is 2 biorhythm" make no sense). "Gotta Go Fast" seems like it was written and recorded in less than ten minutes altogether. The whole thing just sounded completely @$$-pulled.

One thing I will say about the Jetix opeining is that it's very... generic. Therefore, it's appropriate for all seasons of Sonic X. The "Gotta' Go Fast" theme doesn't make much sense in the Metarex Season, as they're not "stuck in a new location", plus the fact that the visuals are a mix between the earlier Sonic X episodes and the pre-release. Furthermore, the Jetix opening is brief.

Most of the Japanese music (Sonic Drive included) is far too energetic and loud for my liking.

Whilst I don't criticise the choices made by some members, I don't think the Jetix theme needs to be totally slated. What it lacks in lyrics, it makes up for in shortness of time, and appropriateness.

I just wish the tune wasn't the sole factor in which to judge what theme is "better."

The 'cursing' is usually the fansubbers' fault. Usually, the characters aren't saying stuff nearly as harsh as the fansubbers may try to make us believe. For example, "shimatta" doesn't mean "Oh, sh*t," it usually just means something along the lines of "oh, no." And yet, the fansubbers decide they want to make the show more 'hardcore' (who decided that swearing was cool?) by having the characters cuss. Seriously, fansubbers, is it really in Tails' character to go around shouting obscenities?

And... What? Blood? I've never once seen blood in that show, and I've watched the Japanese version all the way through. It makes me wonder -- do Sonic characters even HAVE blood?

Zephyr and Zezima (if he's still about) are two guys who think Sonic X sucks because they've probably seen two or three episodes, and therefore think that is enough to become experts on the show. They say things that are exagerrated, and hence not true, as you discovered, digiboy. In other words, what you've just said will have no impact on them.

Well, you're right in saying it extends the ad-break. In the UK, we get one 5 minute ad per episode. CITV when they showed it had no ads... it was just simply a 20 minute block. Still, "Gotta Go Fast" doesn't make much sense come Metarex Season. At least "Sonic Ecks" is suited for all 78, plus the fact Chris gets some attention. :D

Anyway, I'll just state my opinion. I simply do not like Jason Griffith as the voices of Sonic and Shadow. To me, they sound very inappropriate for the characters. I don't think Sonic should sound so goofy and childish and I don't think Shadow should sound so stereotypically "dark" and moody.

I must say, this the best argument in favor of the Japanese version that I've read. My biggest problem with English dub isn't lack of swearing or anything immature like that; my issue with the dub editing was how much fourth wall breaking humor and comedic scenes that were cut. This is also why I prefer AoStH to SatAM, because it's simple and funny. I agree, the Sonic franchise in general is best when it doesn't take itself too seriously.

What is considered "child appropriate" in Japan is different from in the U.S. and Europe. In general, Japan is a lot more lenient on what they let their kids watch.

I also feel it worth noting that, before aforementioned Metarex arc, Shadow made no appearances outside of the SA2 arc, so there goes the 'Shadow's dark past' argument you brought up earlier. The rest of the show was actually very lighthearted. Usually, I'm not one for filler in my anime, but some of the filler episodes in Sonic X were very charming, mainly because of their outright silliness and absurdity (the Chaotix episode comes to mind).

Really, from your arguments about it, it sounds like you're more angry at the fans of the show than the show itself, and I think that it may be clouding your judgment a bit.

And this has almost nothing to do with my previous arguments, but just thought I'd get this out there: Personally, the entire Metarex plot can kiss my @$$, because 1) it took itself too seriously, and 2) it was made for the sole purpose of stopping the (stupid) American fans' bit**ing for more episodes, because they couldn't handle the fact that the show ended semi-ambiguously. I mean, there IS a reason why the third series of the show hasn't even aired in Japan yet, despite the fact that it was made there.

Although, they can go a little crazy with the edits at times, mainly the ones that were made not because they were deemed 'inappropriate,' but because they needed the show to be shorter to fit in more commercials.Don't get me wrong, 4kids did make it worse, but it's not like it was that great before they got their hands on it.
