so, i loved the DS1&2 setup. set up for multiple play throughs, on different difficulties etc... is SS like this? if so, whats some of the stats like-
max character level?
when u play MP LAN or online do all the characters look the same or do you get to at least change hair-dos or anything like character color?
how many and what are the diff difficulty settings?
how long is the main campaign, this worried me most when looking at the ships map on the official site, it looks kinda small doesnt it?
anyways, im loving the game regardless. feels like dungeon siege meets bioshock, lol. with the different level/areas.
cheers, and happy spacing.

Umm... It's kinda like the scummy residue you get when you clean behind your toilet tank, surprisingly nasty and/or nauseating; making you want to avoid such a thing for the rest of your natural life if possible.

There isn't really any "levels" since you don't earn any "experience." What you get instead is a skill tree you can put points into (similar to WoW) except you get points only when the storyline feels like giving them to you, and even then only 2 at a time. In the end you'll wind up with about 40 points or so. (and the skill tree is about as complex/innovative as a bright kinder gardener)
You can upgrade your equipment by using "parts" you get from killing "bad guys" (especially the evil conniving "barrel" and the all vile deadly "box!") and generally shooting the stuffing out of everything else you walk past. (Reallly smart to do on a ship you're going to have to live on afterwards ;) )

Nope, all you get is a randomly colored full body suit and helmet. (Imagine Halos suit crossed with a pair of cheap janitor overalls and you'll get the idea) Heck in the single player you can't even fiddle with your chars appearance.

Um just one from what I've seen in the main campaign. In multi player there's 3 different settings. (boring, mildly less boring, and almost exciting would describe them nicely)

About 7 hours give or take, depending on if you shoot every little barrel, box, and piece of furniture you see for spare parts. (Yes, the ship is small, and by the time you;re done "saving it" ready for the scrap yard along with the disc you installed it with.) For the price I paid I was expecting a good 30+ hours or more ala DS II, instead of a "enhanced demo"

Trust me, stick with the demo, spend the $49 on something (anything) else. With the quality of this game and it's likely popularity once words gets out what a coaster it is; you'll be able to get it for about $10 in the bargain bin of your favorite video game store. (or on Ebay for 33 cents if you hurry!)
cheers, and happy spacing.
After buying this "happy spacing" will be best achieved by personally going into space and ejecting the disc out of the air lock.
