View Full Version : Could this be used in the War if I knew how to use it?

I have had this game for a while and I can hold my own in non-squad free battles, but I am absolutely terrible in the War. My main hound is basically a soldier and the build is as follows:

Sal-Kari ‘RJ-Jamal’ inverse legs due to their small size and fairly high speed.

‘MSK-C20’ pit for it's small size and 9 sockets. (Mobility: ‘M02MC Newman’ for 180 speed. Weapons: ‘TC-Ithnan’ for 1 socket and 4 weapon systems. Stability: ‘M01RC Hopper’ for 120 rotation boost.)

On the top of the pit is ‘MSK-G100’ generator for it's high durability and correct proportions (It hugs the parts very close to my pit without clipping) I could change to a Sal-Kari gen for 2 more points of speed, but I would lose some defense and durability.

From the front of my gen protrudes an ‘SP-Isba’ (elbow spacer) angled down to cover the front of my pit.

Looking at this spacer from the front there are three open sockets pointing left, down and right. Left has an ‘AHP-Ras’ Pile (may be switched to its Morskoj counterpart) , down has ‘AM-Fidda’ armor (I kept getting one hit in the chin by snipers and gators so it was worth losing one point of speed), and right has two ‘HTR-Jazar HEAT Rockets’, one on top of the other.

Still looking from the front the cockpit has open sockets on the left, back, and right. Left has another ‘AHP-Ras’ (cannot be replaced with the Morskoj part due to clipping issues) linked to the other pile. This is the camera gun (which I actually use (rarely) with piles). The distance offset of these two weapons does not create a problem for me because I'm usually hugging the enemy anyway. On the back of the pit is an ‘MSK-AM120’ armor plate to protect my :):):) and for decals and aesthetic value (really dumb to sacrifice the one point of speed on a pile/HEAT Rocket Hound, but I couldn’t help my self). The right side has the last two ‘HTR-Jazar’ rockets stacked so they are side by side with the two out on the spacer.

I can fire the rockets independently, even in the heat of battle, with the pressure sensitive triggers. This also means I can get a constant unbroken stream of rockets firing one at a time. I have to play fairly conservative because the ‘Jazars’ only have 44 rounds with very low reload time (Yay for Unlimited!). Ammo conservation is never a problem, however, because I usually die before getting more than a third of my rounds out at most. Grenadiers kill me in about three volleys, gators in about two, snipers about six, heat seekers in eight, and howitzers or huge cannons in about three. I think it is because all my parts are so tight together.

I really like this hound and it’s not bad in free battles, but I'm about 1/10 win/loss in 1v1 War matches and about 3/10 for 2v2 and 3v3 (10/10 for 3v2 and 3v1, FTW!).

Should I keep it only for free battles, or is it good enough for the War if it was in the hands of a skilled player?

I'm first about a third of the time in Freebattle, and in the top three very often. But that’s only out of around 40 freebattles so I may have not fought highly skilled opponents.

It can be quite frustrating trying to construct a hound that can hold its own in the war. Hit me up with a FR and i'll walk you through a few builds. You can then use those as a guide to what works and what doesn't, assuming you want a good hound for the war.

A good rule of thumb is to have 3-4 primary weapons and 2-3 secondary weapons. Sniper cannons, howitzers, cannons, and ARs make great primary weapons. Heat rockets, MGs, piles, mortars, and gernades usually make great secondary weapons.

Scouts can get by with only secondary weapons as the chassis can't usually handle heavy recoil weapons very well, while alot of soldier builds won't allow for any secondary weapons since most of any exrta weight is used on a c-pit that can take alot of damage. As everything, there are exceptions to this, but for the most part, it is what it is. TIAFN

You can send me a FR too. I'll help you with tactics, builds, and maybe you can come into Oprhans of War for a period of time to help with training. We're new and aren't sure if we'll keep the name... so yeah... We don't have much to lose really :P

Anyways, just send me a message sometime and I'll help you out... Soldiers are kind of hard to use, and I don't know if Johnny gave you western or eastern soldiers... I can help you with the other, as well as the tactics behind each of them :)

Well, scrap the piles, and you might be able to.

Yeah, I'd scrap the piles and change the legs to Naqas. I also think that there are better HEATs to choose from, possibly the RFZ ones. Lastly, don't ever stop tweaking your build until you get it right where you want it.
