I'm off to High Voltage Software next week to meet the team, tour their facilities, and chat with them about The Conduit for an upcoming SEGA podcast. I am really interested in getting questions form the Conduit fans, the people who have been following the game and really want to know more about the details.

So if you have questions, please post them here and I'll do my best to get them answered.

I would like to know if there will be a LAN multiplayer mode as Rob Nicholls (game designer) once said: "We're also working with Nintendo now on getting LAN play working [via system link]."

What is going to be the release dates for all of the world?

1. I love Halo3 online. What makes it great is that it's more deliberately paced with slower moving/higher jumping characters and how it takes more hits to kill an opponent unlike The Call of Duty franchise or the other quick-twitch games. Is The Conduit's online component going to be more akin to the Halo model or the Call of Duty brand of multiplayer?

2. How will Wiispeak be used? Will The Conduit use friend codes?

3. Is there the possibility of DLC somewhere down the line?

4. How many multiplayer maps will be available? And what character types will we be able to choose between?

5. Please tell me there will be some type of "sticky" grenades!

I could go on all day, but I'll stop. I'm buying it already, no matter what I hear from this point on!

A few more:

Will there be melee-specific weapons?

In-game achievements?

When is the sequel coming out? ;)

1. Thanks them for build the best-looking Wii game to date.
2. When did development begin?
3. How was it having SEGA as the publishers for The Conduit?
4. Will there be DLC?
5. Seeing as SEGA own the rights to The Conduit, will there be a possibility of the Quantum 3 being used for other SEGA Wii games?

1/29/09 - Update - I was informed today that our trip has been postponed to 2/24/09. Keep the questions coming and look for studio tour pics later next month. I’m a bit bummed to push the trip back, but maybe it’ll get a bit warmer in Chicago (I can dream!).

according to the SEGA blog the trip was 2/24/09... was it canned? I know there were alot of questions submitted (particularly in the wii forum topic) so I was just wondering if any of them ever go through to the developers? If so, could we expect to see the answers in the future? :)

1. Is there going to be a ranking system like COD WaW?
2. Are there going to be global stats and kill ratios?
3. Can you change your name at any time or do you have one name forever like the dumb box?
4. Is there going to be a host in online games and if so, if they end or leave a game in the middle of it does it end the game right there and you unfairly win or lose?(like COD WaW!)
5. If one person has a bad connection, is the whole game laggy as heck!?
6. Please have more maps, DLC for maps and game modes, maybe weapon packs as DLC too.

Thanks a lot, I can't wait for this game!

8) They have been saying that the game will support 16 players online but in the official site (www.conduitgame.com) it says that the game supports up to 12 players online, is that an error or does that mean that they lied or couldnīt achieve what they promised? and if thatīs true then how are they planning to compensate for that lost of online players?

I hope they compensate it with a split screen multiplayer! :D I'll be absolutely happy if they do that!

P.S. If they can't a 4 split screen... at least 2! My girlfriend want to shoot some characters that have my name on it! :x She says that the wins I got when we played Golden Eye was because she was learning the controls but says that if The Conduit have an split screen multiplayer option will show me how is a "real head shot" (she is practicing with Wii Play... the shooting game)

You guys need to read around more :D

there is NO split screen, NO LAN, 12 players online, with Wiispeak you only hear the 6 closest people to you, not everyone, 9 maps, no plans for DLC, June 23rd release date, there is going to be a lobby system as well as private and public matches(regional & worldwide), 18 guns, you can vote on maps and not just the one it brings up, it will let you pick the map from a list, you can vote on what guns you want used in the match, 13 online Multiplayer modes.

hmm, if I can remember anything else I will post it later.

P.S. they only shortened the ammount of players you can play online because 12 was the best number to get the lag and such minimized.

I knew all that stuff but I wanted to know if they are going to have some of the same problems as COD WaW and how invites will be recieved when your in the middle of a game.

Juannabe

they are going to hold another Multiplayer conference sometimes soon, since the last one went so horribly, so we should find out then.

They have already done the multiplayer event over. go to ign.com, they have a great interview video of the online.

Juannabe
04-18-2009, 05:47 PM
they didnt go it over again, that is just the interview they had done during the last event, no one actually got to play the Mulitplayer there, they just played the Single Player instead, SEGA and HVS said they will plan another and invite everyone again.

I just want to know if the Wii Speak peripheral will allow you to talk to anyone online, or only your friends. It's hardly worth it to go out and buy Wii Speak if I'll only get to use it once a week when my friends and I manage to get on at the same time.

EDIT - Never mind, after doing a bit of research, I found myself an answer.

05-14-2009, 03:03 AM
yes i was wondering if the conduit is going to have a ranking system, leader board, and stats. Also when your playing with people who aren't your friends but are on the same team, can u talk with them or just only the people you have swapped friend codes with. THANKS SNW420 aka www.ADwii.tk

Juannabe
05-14-2009, 03:06 AM
You can only speak with people you have exchanged friend codes with, and there is a lobby system but no leaderboards, there will be a level system, upto level 25, but you do not get anything major from this.

snw420
05-14-2009, 03:10 AM
so do you work with sega/highvoltage/conduit or is that just an educated guess because i haven't seen anyone release any information on those subjects....

Juannabe
05-14-2009, 03:13 AM
I dont work for either one, just a major fan and supporter of The Conduit and HVS, but if you read around, you WILL find impressions from the multiple people who have played the Multiplayer, they have videos and articles on this on most major Wii gaming websites.

Here's one answer about leaderboards, but I thought I read an interview posted on GoNintendo once, that leaderboards are confirmed for the game...so I'm not really sure.

Interview posted on CUBED3.com: http://www.cubed3.com/news/12254
"JB: Aside from competitive play, will there be co-operative, tournament modes, and leaderboards, etc., since these are the basics of a modern shooter on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3?

DP: These are all features we wanted for The Conduit but just didn't have time for. We worked very hard to provide the best multiplayer game experience possible. When the time came to polish or add new features, we decided to polish and place these features on the 'future game' list. We never remove features from the list of things to do, so there is no telling what may happen in the future."

that wasnt the same one I was talking about, but it was one of the ones I read after I saw them say no leaderboards.

I know which one you're talking about, I can't find it though. I've been Googling and searching GoNintendo, but I can't find the article with the other guy that stated leaderboards would be in the game...

I had read the one from CUBED3.com first, then I saw the other one and was glad to know the game has leaderboards.

Juannabe

No, I read there was no leaderboards, only a leveling system and a lobby system.

I actually like no leaderboards. This means less people glitching and less *****ing about it. And in every game like this I always start out playing the game so much to try and get near the top and then stay there that I inevitably get burnt out and just get so frustrated with every little problem in the game. With no leaderboards I can just relax and enjoy it a little more.

Juannabe
06-10-2009, 12:00 PM
I learned that lesson with Return to Castle Wolfenstein, tried so hard to be at the top and actually made it to 7th place, but then the hackers poured in and it was almost impossible to stay in the top 50's.
