Yep. That's Default Sonic, unless something is noticably different (which it will be, but for good reasons).

He's just being Sonic. You know, the typical laid back guy.
I've read the second chapter. ^^ I enjoyed it also. I like how Knuckles isn't acting overly moody and serious. Plus, I love the idea of him able to explore the world now. It could fit perfectly into an actual Sonic game. The only criticism I have is it's somewhat difficult to tell what a character's emotions/expressions are in certain scenes. Like this one, Sonic: HEY, KNUX! GOT ANY GOOD LANDING STRIPS AROUND HERE? I'm not sure in what way Sonic is shouting to Knuckles from The Tornado.

I finished reading the first chapter. It is very well-written and everyone's personalities is accurate. My favorite scene so far is the conversation between Dr.Eggman and the commander in prison. I really felt the emotions coming from both of them and imagining the scene in my mind. ^^
