Hi folks. I really recently got into Yakuza (like last year sometime) and have already chewed through all 4 core western released games. I know everyone here wants others to be released and I see, and support many of the efforts but I was just wondering if maybe some folks would like to share their 'favorite parts' of Yakuza. Maybe there's a particular character or story segment or submission or something that endears you to Yakuza. Maybe talk about how you got into Yakuza to begin with. Maybe if Sega see's how Yakuza fans enjoy the game, it'll be a bit more leverage for western releases.

For me, my enjoyment...ah hell, my ADDICTION to Yakuza started as stated, sometime last year. I had seen the games in Gamestop but, to be honest, the back descriptions and pics never really caught my eye. They usually made the game seem like GTO which I don't care for at all. That coupled with the fact that I had never heard ANYTHING about the games good or bad made me simply keep on stepping. So one of my friends had Yakuza 4 and hadn't really touched the game. He just impulse bought it and stockpiled it. I was helping him move and he told me I could borrow it if I wanted to. I now know that him impulse buying the game at just the right time when I could borrow it was all the hand of GOD at work. I took 4 home and played with Akiyama for about 2 or 3 hours only getting to about his 2nd chapter because I was so enamored by everything going on and the combat system. I then took time out to look at the recap 'reminisce' videos and those factors combined basically hooked me. I made up my mind at that point to stop playing 4 so I wouldn't get to attached the the updated graphics and gameplay and go and hunt down 1 through 3. It was NOT an easy feat to do as I'm sure most of you probably know. Or rather, I could find the games but not for decent prices. It was very interesting that, in the end, Gamestop ended up having the best prices and availability for the games. In hindsight, if I had known then that the games were in such need of support, I'd have probably had bought them straight from Sega's website just to show them people still crave the games, but that's besides the point. Over the next few months I have only really played 1 or 2 other games outside of the Yakuza games and have soaked up most of the things in each installment. I'm not a completionist but I felt rather proud by what I did accomplish and today marks my victory over Yakuza 4. It pains me that the only thing left in the west for Yakuza right now is Dead Souls. Good game overall from what I've played of it but still...to know that there is more out there and I just can't understand it....hurts really.

Well, thats how I got into Yakuza. I'll tell more about my enjoyment if this thread kicks off. Come on folks, show some love for MR. Kiryu Kazuama!

There was a time when asking for a Ryu Ga Gotoku/Yakuza game on a non-Sony platform was a taboo, a non breakable dogma...until now, when Sega announced at the Nintendo Direct Yakuza 1&2 HD for WiiU, the first time the series arrive on a non Sony platform.

So at this point Yakuza exclusiveness to Sony platform becomes a nonsense, I expect Yakuza 6 to be multiplatform X720-PS4-WiiU, like it should have been since Yakuza 3, and to finally achieve more success.

Hello western Ryu Ga Gotoku fans!

It seems that SEGA still didn't confirm anything about a western release of Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 (not to forget Kenzan!).
Now some of you feel bad about all this and we even get the news that it might not be localized at all.
Let's spread the word of Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 even more! Don't stop at the Facebook campaign.

Examples of 'spreading the word':

Some of you have a YouTube channel. Place an advert for Ryu Ga Gotoku at the begining and at the end of your video or change your background.

Some of you have their own Homepage. Place a banner for Ryu Ga Gotoku where everyone can see it.

Some of you go to conventions and do cosplay. Dress up as a character of the series and show a text board advert around.

Some of you have a printer. Print flyers and posters and hang them up on random walls.

Some of you have humor. Flood the web with Ryu Ga Gotoku Memes. They mostly get attached to your brain.

Most of you have friends. Recommend the series or even borrow it. They might buy it.

Most of you have money. Buy a Ryu Ga Gotoku shirt or make one and run around with it.

Most of you have a brain. Think of more ideas yourself!

I just don't like to watch everyone worry about it. Kiryu would tell us to stop with it and take it into our own hands. If SEGA doesn't advertise it enough, we can! We have the internet, we have the real world, we have the community. Live the spirite!

http://www.gamer.nl/nieuws/424751/eu...alisatiekosten

I cannot read Dutch, beacuase I'm not Dutch! ;-) So I translated it via google:

European release Yakuza 5 insecure by high localisation costs

A European release of Yakuza 5 is far from certain because the high localization costs might constitute too great a financial risk. That leaves Chief Operating Officer of Sega Europe, Jurgen Post, in an interview with Gamer.nl know that later this week appears. Gamer.nl asked Jurgen Post to the likelihood of a European Yakuza 5-release, in view of the high ontiwkkelbudget, the agreements with the Grand Theft Auto games as well as the rave reviews that received the game in Japan. Jurgen Post confirms that the game is a quality product that performs well in Japan, but indicates that it is "a title with so much narration [is] that the localisation cost is very high and these costs can just make sure that the risk is too great in order to bring it out. "in Europe

Yakuza 5 appeared last December in Japan. All previous parts of the Yakuza series, including the zombie spin-off Yakuza: Dead Souls, appeared to date in European stores.

From what I gather, he's saying that due to the sheer scale of RGG5, it would be too expensive to localise and the risk would be too high? Sigh... I guess there's almost zero chance of us seeing Yakuza 5 then :uhoh:

Hey all, I posted this on gamefaqs, but am also posting here just in case.

I am extremely frustrated, and just about to throw this game in the trash.

The game keeps freezing on Majima's part, where "Aggro" is first introduced. After pressing "X" on his introduction, my PS3 freezes. What makes this extremely infuriating is that this is the part right after a boss fight, and I've had to kill this boss 6 TIMES. Now to counter this problem, I re-installed the game data, thinking maybe this is a glitch in the data somewhere. But nope, after beating the damn boss twice with the new data, the game keeps freezing on the same exact part. Also should mention, this game is 100% new. It was in the shrink wrap from the store. There isn't a scratch or a spec on it.

Is there absolutely ANYTHING I can do? I'd really appreciate any input.

ASFGDGHDTGHDRH 7th try & it worked!! Sorry for taking up threadspace, but hopefully the game doesn't freeze up anymore.

i honestly wanna know why sega is more concerned with releasing the main series than the offshoots and prequels like the psp titles and kenzan, here. as of yet, i still havent played a yakuza game past the psp demos and of the end cuz i wanna start at the beginning, the black panther games are a completely new storyline and a good jumping point for new members to the series, i have been planning to import the games, but i keep holding off on the chance that sega eventually releases em on psn or something.

i know people have requested localization of kenzan, the hd collection, and the psp titles, why doesnt sega do it? are they really that lame?

someone said in a post for localizing yakuza 5 that the game is too, big? well we arent asking voice acting, just put subtitles down! they also said that there are too many tie-ins advertisements, why does this matter? people are expecting to be plopped into a district of japan, so the tie-ins are in japanese, so what? it makes the game authentic! there has always been tie-ins as far as i can tell, go to the store, look at the magazines, look at the weblinks, the qr codes, etc. i like it!
