The Friendly AI does suck. You're better off going it alone. But they do have the ability to take down a few enemies on the easier difficulties.
If you play the story, be [I]damned[/I] sure you play it in Online Co-op with competent team mates. I beat it on all 3 difficulties (Plus a few missions on Extreme) by myself. Because I'm a bad***. But it is significantly better with friends.

The game is worth it for the single player story alone. None of it makes sense. But hilariously so. And it's worth noting that it'sractically dripping with Hot-Blooded Awesomeness (Which is a selectable title.) Don't believe me? Try a humongous [B]ARTILLERY TRAIN[/B].
