I know I keep saying this, but OVA Tails is a near perfect example of that. I would like to see one game replicate that or do it even better.

I think Sonic's weakness should be water in that he can't swim for beans. That way his speed would be completely useless if he is ever fully submerged. And even when he gets out, it could still slow...
