    Default Worst Beta Ever

Honestly, my god, its so bad. I mean, I am aware of what a Beta product is, but typically a Beta product will at least work, maybe it lacks polish, or has bugs, but usually they work. You know, so I can test them.

The one game I managed to actually join, instant desync, game over.

The interface, my god the interface. Wheres all the information? Wheres the global chat, so I can actually talk to my fellow gamers and setup games?

    And LIVE? Why?

Compared to the Forged Alliance Beta, this is a joke. I guess I got spoiled by a good game management program (GPGNet I love you!).

I hope your not associating GPG with good online support....

Remember how, single-handed, they killed Dungeon Siege 2 online play because they didn't release a patch that fixed a bug causing 90% of players not to be able to host until 3 months later?

GPGs support with Supreme Commander have been almost flawless. Other games than that i have no idea of, but with SupCom they really shine. Some piece of evidence to support my statement is this poll: http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=20608
    Ask the same thing here...

I'm not here to convince anyone though, and you don't have to agree with me. I'm just reading this forum because UAW seems to be a nice game. Too bad Sega seem to screw Europe and Microsoft to screw online play. I didn't get into this beta, which was sad for me, but then again there seems to be a lot of problems with it.

Sega, Microsoft and Petroglyph should get their stuff together before getting the community involved. Once they are involved the publicity of a game will go either black or white. In this case the discussion seems to be quite negative
And Sega, as a publisher (many people already sees the publishers as greedy and as a negative force, mainly thanks to EA that screwed Westwood), should not promote illegal downloads in such an obvious way. Global release please. There aren't any excuses in 21st century. Fail with global release and pirates get air under their wings.

The publishers job is to create good publicity and promote the game right? Make the awesome game named UAW to be known, so people will buy it.

Why do people keep making these threads?

The quality of the game isn't based on whether or not you can play it, that's obvious to those of you capable of breathing and thinking simultaneously. Sure, it can ruin a game and it sucks when online support is screwed up, but THAT'S NOT THE GAME. It's not complicated:

Game = what you play, online support = what--sometimes--prevents you from playing.

There's a lot of online and UI stuff they are fixing with the patch that will come eventually, and then all those problems will be gone. And if you think the issues here are bad (which they aren't, because I've played this beta a ton with only minor issues) then you should have been in the COH:OF beta. It was just short of completely broken.

In UAW you have to wrestle with LIVE a bit, and you get the occasional sync error, but it's quite playable. OF took 5 minutes to join a game, sync errored about half the time, and ghosted old games so only about 1 out of every ten games you tried to join were actually there. With a several minute wait to see if the game was actually real, it was quite difficult to play at all. And since they took almost a month to fix it completely, I probably didn't manage to play more than 5 games in that time.

But back to UAW, the GAME, the thing that you PLAY, is great. It's a really fun game, as opposed to the online support and UI, which are both buggy and annoying. Try to distinguish between the two.

I expected a lot from Supreme Commander but they have extremely poorly animated units, some walker units don't even walk, they just glide on the surface with their legs moving up and down, it's just terrible, totally ruined the game for me.

Just because you dont have any major issues, doesn't mean there aren't any major issues. Get over yourself already.

Play the game... an excellent suggestion. Excellent that is, if there was anybody online to play against. It's hard to test a game when all they give you is the multiplayer part of a game and very few players to play against.

    Quoted and bolded for truth.

I'm still excited about the prospect of this game, but I am becoming more and more convinced that I will wait for it to fall to value price and just play the solo player part. The beta IS a disaster, and it DOES reflect poorly that they can't get the patch validated for so long. Does not bode well for the game.

    Fail.

Funny how the majority of people seem to be able to find games when they play. Only VERY recently have I had any troubles, and I can still manage to get a game usually.

Also, I don't mean to imply that anyone in this beta isn't computer-savvy, but I think the problem is with you guys and not the game. No one I know who got into the beta had any troubles, and it seems to me that the problems tend to be among people who sound more than a little clueless.

And before you freak out and start yelling at me that you can indeed use your compooter correctly, I would point out that whenever one of these betas is released in a torrent, 9/10 people can't even get it to work, much less get full download speeds, and that is not exactly rocket science

I want Universe at War for the single-player action, I loved the RA and Tiberium series to death while Westwood developed them because they were so good at making a great game that was fun and immersing. I didn't include C&C3 because for one EALA screwed that pooch in the a** and like I said Westwood didn't develope it. I didn't get into the beta for the online play, I got in because I wanted a taste of how the game would be and aside the glitches, bugs, and what not which many of you are complaining about I have not been getting luckily, I just wanted a teaser taste of the game before it came out so I could have huge battles in my mind while I slept the nights away waiting for the game's release.

    ROCK ON PETROGLYPH AND FRANK!!!!!!
