    Default DEMO NOW AVAILABLE!

    Gang,

I know this has already been posted by others (and I appreciate their efforts to be on top of this) but I wanted to create the official sticky announcement.

The Demo for Universe at War is now available:

    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/gamesp...928&id=6182928

This demo includes a tutorial level and the first two episodes of the Hierarchy campaign.

Playability figures to be siginificantly better than the pre-patch beta. Speaking of which -- patch is still in cert, and we'll let you know when it's ready.

Please feel free to throw out your feedback once you've played. I know the beta test has been real messy in a lot of ways, and I'm guessing that people excited to know more about this game are probably looking forward to some good news for a change...

Yeah, the demo was really smooth and nice.

Still can't tell us when they're finally gonna patch it though? Sigh...

Lol, rating doesn't mean anything. Judge your system specs yourself, don't let a crappy OS do it for you :P

Ironically, we all have to use Vista for Dx10, which makes me sad. I can deal with vista if it means uber-1337 graphics though Not to imply Vista causes good graphics, just that they only make dx10 for vista

So I never made it to the beta due to me being from europe..i think. But i've been watching this game and I acctually have no idea why because I'm more of a RPG type of guy. Yet this game has me hooked somehow and I will get it when it becomes available. Not from Sweden where I live though as it says that it'll come in february 2008 ;/

Now I finally check the forum and see this beautiful message of a demo! But with this I also see messages of BSOD..I do not really care about getting it but the restore point you have to do is something that bothers me. How safe is this really?

Anyway I'm downloading it as I type and hopefully nothing will go wrong.

EDIT: Well I can say that I really like this game now after testing the demo. Though there was a problem. When playing suddenly the game crashed and my computer just stood there loading. After 10 min I decided to do a reset. When starting the computer i got disk boot failure and I had to turn the power off and then start it again to be able to start the computer.

Most likely an out of game issue, or your computer has a corrupt file somewhere on it.. The list can go on and on but games do not usually crash computers. The only time they do is if they cannot handle it or it demands something your computer does not have, got broken, or is denied.

As for it causing a disk boot error though means there is most likely something wrong with your hardrive, how old is it? Maybe you have bad cables or cable connections to the hardrive, or your BIOS. If it isn't causing trouble anymore though you should be set.

The game never crashed the computer it just loaded for so long. I bet that the forced shutdown might have caused something.

I tried running the demo again and I didn't get it. It might have been because I had fraps running. My computer is 1,5 years old and I do not think there is something wrong with hard drive. The only time i've got this before was when I OC:ed my GPU too much. I also did a check on the cables(physically) and the harddrive with windows and the results showed nothing.

Anyway I hope that it was fraps that caused this problem. I saw a topic on the Petroglyph Forums mentioning that the game crashed because of it so I will not have it on when playing.

I can run it maxed and get 27fps the lowest. Though I turned down chaders a little and got 33fps which is great

    I'll play it more
    Hopefully nothing happens.
