Forum Ranks

This may sound silly, but I think there should "ranks" on the forums. Basically once you reach a certain amount of posts, your rank increases. This is not to make anyone with less posts feel "inferior", I guess it would just give people more of a reason to come back to the forums, or to register an account (Rather than creating a guest account and never coming back).

acualy this is something i & many users have been wanting for some time. its more of a respect for the posters of this forum to have a rank for their hard work. i know that i sounds like some users may spamm to get a better rank, but then again spamming is still an issue that we can handle with the same punishment as we always have. if i user spammes, they are warned & then if they contenue they sould be punished. the forum rank sould not effect someone spamming. if so then they will be punished as a example to all users in the future.

this would be a great bonus for sega to do this, it would make alot of the senior posters on this & the main sega.com forums have a new respect for sega. it would show thay they trust their users & prove that they care enough to give us something we can be very proud to have.

heh i know i am a lone voice in the mist, but i know that i am not the only one that feels this way. plz take this into deep thought & let us know that ur reply is.

Like adri, I actually brought up the idea with the other mods, and we talked about it. Ya know, same deal. We give out SEGA related ranks (or if ranks are seperate for the PSO Forums, PSO Related ranks) according to post count, and maybe some other conditions.

However, some other mods disagreed and said it would cause spamming/etc. Now, I dont exactly support that, since if people spam, we can always delete their posts, and they'll be banned too right? Well, anyways, we dont have ranks yet, but dont think we never did anything about it. Im still trying to get everyone to allow ranks, but Im not making any promises.

It probably would increase spamming.. yet it would be an interesting thing.. I guess.. =P

I think just as long as the mods continue checking on a daily basis, the spamming problem should be fine. It's basically just a nice way of being recognized for what you have contributed to the forums.

well it might help ur fellow mods if they read & posted their ideas in this thread. i mean if they care or have a idea that its not good. at lest tell them to post it here. they can coment on this as well. they are fellow posters too. i am sure that the posters here now would love to see some mod input. from outside this set forum.

it might help them see the light of ourside too, or they might show us a flaw we did not see. ether way, ask them to post here. its the best thing i can think of.

i disagree with forum ranks.

One of which being it starts unneed competition with people.

Second, where exactly do you come up with the appropirate forum rankning that everyone can relate to?

Third, for me atleast, i believe it's pointless. As soon as you introduce a forum ranking system, you start having people post just to get that higher ranking less in to their actual posts. Rankings don't work, i've been to numerous other forums, and they don't work. people shoudl be competing for something that isn't important.

The forum has done well with out ranking, and i don't see why it would even be needed now.

true, but if it did become a problem they could always remove it. i just wish to give the members a chance at this. it may be wrong or even stupid, but its what the users want. its just up to the admin to see if they feel we need it. kinda wish they would give us some input in this matter.
