    Default Tactics

    I support tactics.
I am very new to this particular game (on my 2nd week), I was not even aware you could tell who you were fighting before a mission.
I have only played free battle a couple times (pretty much got stomped). 1st time I played everyone there noticed I had Heat seekers on my mech (they let it slide since I was so new). I defended the base. After it became apparent that no-one could get by me 1 on 1 I realised that they are VERY tough to beat. I opted to change mechs, and got smoked by the same people. I now know that many do not like grenades as well (im not good with them anyway). But I would still face Heat Seekers - They were put in the game for a reason.
And Yes I think 4 wheelies w/ pilers is a cheesey tactic, but a tactic none the less.
Would I play with people who do nothing but? No. That would be redundant...

The problem with heatseekers isn't the damage they do. Infact, a half-skilled pilot who knows how to build a hound will only get hit by the first seeker, or if they are coming from a flank.

The problem is that they have no ammo limits in a Unlimited match. In a war match, you can just circle strafe an opponent for about 3 minutes as he wastes all of his seekers, then just blow him away. In unlimited, it becomes very difficult to use weaponry that stops you [cannons, howitzers, ect] and continue to dodge.

Grenades do require a bit of practice, but the learning curve is nowhere near as steep as say...ARs. One you learn how to arc your shots, they become one of, if not the most, practical weapon to use.

A wheeled piller is definitely not a cheap tactic. For starters...your weapons will be stripped faster then most others if you don't keep hills between you and the enemy. Hell, if you got the balls for it, throw on a smoke mortar [or 2 most likely], thermal goggle, and have some fun.

Just one note. If your playing a free battle, check what the match type is. Most of the game options are about kills and kills only, so defending a base is useless there.

Edit: A second note: War and Free Battle are two different monsters. FB is more killing hounds as efficiently as possible, while war is execution of strategies.

The Jammer blocks the NA in a very small radius for as long as it's activated. You can cloak another hound if they're really close to you...but it's hard to do on the move because you basically have to stay so close you're touching.

I've seen a wheelie hound that can run his jammers for 8 minutes. So if you get your whole team running wheelies with piles and stay close to him they should be able to make it to the enemy base and take it out before the enemy can even try to engage them. Of course you would probably need to stay in the yellow out of bounds zone on your trip there just to avoid the trusty Mk1 locator and as long as they cant see you that way then theres no way thermals could pick you up or just have coolers on you just in case. Even better if the weather conditions sucked.
