Do defenses layer?

You have your pit, in front of that is an offset joint retangular spacer, and attached to that is your armor. A Sniper is smacking you dead center... do the shots have to chew through the armor, then the spacer, and then into your pit? After your armor is blown, you still get KE/CE for it - I get that. I assume that is also true for the spacer... so if the shot tags you dead center and would pass through both armor and spacer on its merry way to your pit... If BOTH are blown... would you still get the combined ArmorCE/KE+SpacerCE/KE as a damage reducer to what hits your pit? If the shot is to the left (the bullet trajectory would hit armor but bypass the spacer), would you get just the ArmorCE/KE?

once a part is blown then any further damage to that part goes through to your pit.
