    AR's can be challenging to use, they are not strong enough to stop a hound (other then wheely or hover) from taking your base. Their primary mission is to wear a hound down, when you defend you just don't have the luxury of time on your side,

    Too slow not enough stopping power.

    Use grenades / Cannons / howies / Huge Cannons / anything that deals large damage at close range.

    I think the first two are the best combo for a true defender

    You cant waste time trying to kill a pile or MG hover as it dances around your base. Especially when there is 2 or more. Catch them with the HEAT and hold them, slam them with nades and HEAT it up during reload.
