201 – Carry out responsibilities at work
Describe why it is important to have effective communication with your supervisor and team members at work.
In a working environment it is very important that I communicate efficiently. This is important as everyone needs to work effectively so that the work is completed correctly. Also everyone will feel more comfortable around each other so that work can be done with no problems or at least with higher standards than a area with bad communication.
To make sure that communication is clear I would do it by this:
• If I have any problems either with the work given or a visitor has a question that I am unable to help with I would ask any of the team and make sure that I understand so that the work is easier.
• Be confident in what I am doing. If someone asks me to type a document up I would ask how they would like it done and ask for assistance if I have any problems.
• When taking written material to read for information I would make sure I confirm and take the main points so that I understand what is needed. If I am unclear on some information I would ask the person that sent it to me to explain.
• When writing an e-mail, letter, memo or anything formal I will make sure that all spelling and grammar is correct so that the other people can clearly understand the main points I am sending to them.
When given instructions I will make sure that I fully understand. If not I may get my work wrong this is why communication is very vital.
When talking to someone I need to make sure that my voice is clear and I explain what is needed so that the person understands what I am saying. If there are any questions asked I would make sure I do my best to help.
If there was something I wasn’t sure on I would refer to my supervisor and let him know that I need help so that when he has time he can help me out as much as possible.
