Well, any Nintendo Switch game (minus online multiplayer sessions) can be pseudo-paused by hitting the home button, which takes you back to the home menu. I imagine the same will hold true for Dark Souls.

During this, the game is in a complete freeze and you need only select the game in question to pick up exactly where you left off. It's actually quite handy for when you're playing on the go while in a situation where you're playing in bursts rather than a dedicated session. Though I also find it's handy for pausing the action on games while on the dock/TV mode as well. For added convenience, you can also put it in sleep mode and it will still be where it was before.

It's a rather known encounter, just search for Anor londo archers and you'll get plenty of results.
    I see. Thank you.

Playing Dark Souls on Switch will make everyone play like DSP when he first started playing the game

I'm not familiar with this series; I'm sure playing it portably will have its audience. As Twilight Jedi said, all Switch games have the ability to Pause, just hit the Home button.

Now Playing: LA Noire (Switch) Super Mario Odyssey (Switch)
Recently Completed: Persona 5 (PS4), South Park Fractured But Whole (PS4), Sonic Forces (PS4)

If the home button works anything like the other systems, then it should be able to be circumvented, as it was done on the other systems. Not being able to pause is one of the staples of the series, and one of the aspects that contributes to its challenging nature.

I want a pause button for offline mode at least. Having a pause button doesn't stop all the other RPGs and action adventure games from being difficult. The biggest reason there is no pause button is because of the perpetual online features when you enable it.

If Switch version needs a pause for handheld mode I'd buy that version automatically.

Then you should look for a different game.

In the same vein as the souls games? Yes, it very much does.

The game can be played in offline mode and there's no pause function either.

Not seeing it. Besides, Souls predecessor was King's Field and let you pause.

I am enjoying Bloodborne, pausing or not, because it is fair when it comes to allowing you to return to base. But I would like pause feature for offline. It's an oversight I don't understand. If I play online I follow the rules of the game's online features and understand that online can be disconnected if I enter the home screen or sleep.

The pause feature does exist in a Souls game. It's called "clear out the enemies in the surrounding area first or move somewhere in a place where enemies won't see you".

Great but at the same time, meh. I feel like I overpaid for DOOM on the Switch but not going to do that again for an old game re-released.

I've decided to try and be more cautious where I drop my wallet on Switch games.
