Honestly, seems like a lot of extra weight just to go through the trouble of putting the pit and weapons out of splash range. I just don't see it as a threat, but rather more annoying. I'll have to look up the exact build, but I know you can get about the same weapon height, same weapon use, and a much bigger pit yet still get about the same effect.

Awkwardness, it seems, was what he was going for.
