    Default The Outlook of Sega

Since Sammy and Sega merged together, with Sammy having more control, do you think the outlook of Sega is grim, or alright?

I DID talk to Sammy themselves before the merger by e-mail, and here's the message:

    "Dear [Meanie-Funie],

Thank you for your e-mail, dated January 4, 2003.

Sammy Group has engaged in pachislot and pachinko business, as well as
News (New Entertainment World of Sammy) business by which we offer a
    new entertainment world.

We will reinvest profits gained from the pachislot and pachinko
business in the NEWS business by which we intend to develop globally in the
amusement and entertainment content areas. For example, Sammy supplys the
home video game software, amusement arcade equipment and game contents
    for cellphone.

We have continued collaboration and cooperation with SEGA in these
business areas. The said acquisition of SEGA shares held by CSK is aimd at
    strencthening such collabolation and cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Sammy Corporation"

Sammy DID say they supply home video game software, for those worried Sega will only be an arcade company.

Plus, if Sammy has any intention to "doom" Sega, then they'd be no point to coming to Sega in the first place. Besides, Sega IS renowned for the best arcades of all time; Sammy also makes arcades... Any connection, even if it involves money?

Well, Sammy's CEO becoming Sega's new chairman is a sure sign that some sort of major change is in store for Sega. I would not mind seeing Sonic in the arcades again, but I don't want Sega to stop producing console games.

    You people are extremely illiterate.

    Sammy supplys the
home video game software, amusement arcade equipment and game contents
    for cellphone.

So instead of bumping a topic that was made a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago and implying that SEGA is screwed, READ the e-mail.

I don't see any problems. It's not like Sega was bought by a company with no talent.

Well i have read that SAMMYs chairman was good friends with one of SEGAs past chairmans. Also the second in command at SAMMY use to work at SEGA making games. So i just see it as SEGA expanding now.

That's because they are expanding. Ever since the proposal this month, and SEGA/Sammy Holdings have officially established, SEGA is now one of the most wealthiest companies in the Land of the Rising Sun (Hello... Japan). Remember, Sammy's a multi-BILLION dolar company. Now all that money belongs to both SEGA and Sammy. That's enough money to make like thousands of games each year and afford just the right equitment to make better games. Hopefully, the American branch gets the same.
