    Default FOnewearl advice

I start using my FOnewearl next week and I think I have a build that can tech & melee well. I plan to support in parties and tech/melee when soloing. Here's what I got to work with:
    • Melee mode:
Charge Diska & Mechgun 50 hit, Vivienne, Bringer's Rifle
      Thirteen[list:795aad8622]Cent/Ability X3
      H/Battle, Cure/Freeze or Smartlink
    Rupika
    Dex>Pow>Mind & Dex>Mind>Pow mag
    [*]Tech mode:
    Glide, Summit Moon
    Lt. Mantle
    • Heavenly Mind X3
      V801 or God/Tech
    Rupika
    Mind Mag[/list:u:795aad8622]
Other FO stuff I have but don't really use:
    • Mahu 0/20/25/0/15
      Caduceus 0/20/0/30/30
      Technical Crozier 45/0/20/0/15
      Twinkle Star 0/0/0/30/50
      Guardianna 15/0/35/0/40
      Plantian Huge Fan 25/20/0/0/60
      Elysion 20/0/0/15/55

Any suggestions or am I doomed to failure?

whatever you think will be most fun for you =]. no need playing a megid tech spam melee or pure support fo if youre not going to enjoy it. my fonwearl use to be melee just because i couldnt stand tech spamming and pure support gets lame and megid seems to work only on certain days. and secretly i liked following zerkers and dmg canceling ninja style. bwahaha.

When I was making this topic I was thinking to myself: "I could tech, melee or Res".

But he gave me some good non-megid related advice too.

thirteen is useless without the rare discas, so lose it. either go for lt. mantle, or something with high def, switch to high evade once you're 160+ (or just keep the lt. mantle. trap sight is really useful). use safety heart over the rupika once you're high level and max out your evp. better with high stat rico's earrings. you'll block hits in ep 4 pretty reliably. add holy ray to that list. with hit if possible. 3x cent ability is overkill, since you will max pow quickly. try to get a v101 instead and save yourself from using a cent/abil and h/battle. keep cure/freeze, shock, para on hand at all times and swap out as needed. para > freeze > shock. also, prioritize the v501 over the smart link, since you'll be using the vivienne special once in a while. if your foney is < lvl 130, the double saber with 50 hit. it'll land much more reliably in ult, and you'll be able to use its special. charge weapons have not worked well, as the specials don't land reliably, even with a v501 and smart link on. haven't tried the v502. if you can get the v501/502 and smartlink, look for a slicer of fanatic. mag-wise, max dex first, then pow, the mind if you're going for damage. dex > mind > pow if you're just tp regening.

    Yurine's melee loadout:
    weapons:
vivienne (50 hit double saber previously)
slicer of fanatic/braveman (for ep 1 dragon) /flight fan (for shamb/kond/saint) (flight fan atp > braveman + exp steal - zerk)
    holy ray (30 hit)
    bringer's rifle
hell handgun (50 hit) (banked, unless in ep 2 for slightly faster killing)
Madam's umbrella (no hit) (misses a lot in ult if it doesn't have hit--banked this, unless i'm soloing. getting a partisian with hit is a huge help)

    armor:
    lt. mantle (since lvl 110)
    - v101
    - v501
    - smartlink
    - cure unit (para, shock, freeze, confuse) (confuse is usually in the bank)
safety heart/resta merge (used to have adv regen bp before safety heart)
sato (106 dex, pow to max atp, rest mind, 5 def)

Yurine can easily solo ep 1 through caves melee. tougher in mines (esp vs sinows). very difficult in ruins, especially with the bringers and gran sorcerers, but somewhat doable. cannot melee vol opt v2 (nor tech for that matter). Can easily solo spaceship and CCA, several rooms of towers as long as the enemies don't get too numerous. Can possibly solo temple with SoF. Very difficult, but can solo seabed if done very judiciously and with the right equipment, and still difficult (though not as much) in 1p. ep 4, can solo, but has a difficult time vs gorans without nuking. i've been considering getting a blizzard handgun with hit as a FO's froozer, but i haven't had luck in getting on or testing it out. Generally, meleeing is pretty slow if you do it solo on the foney in multiplayer games. a little slower in 1p

all attack nukes are lvl 29
grants is lvl 26 (rarely used)
    megid is 28
    s/d/j/z/resta are 30
    anti 7

    [*]Tech mode:
    Glide, Summit Moon
    Lt. Mantle
    • Heavenly Mind X3
      V801 or God/Tech
    Rupika
    Mind Mag[/list]
I was never a fan of the v801, since you rarely get hit outside of ep 4 in full nuke mode. ep 4 gets to be about 50/50 on tech casting timing. tech damage in solo mode is much higher in ult, unless you're doing solo ep 4, where monsters hit faster, so go for tech level boosts. mind boost is fine. you'll want to add angi, indra, dagon wands as well. don't use the glide if you're soloing. go straight for nukes after a jellen (which you should cast only when needed).

side note: glide divine is good for long distance exp tagging or for towers, but i found that lvl 30 jz reaches far enough 95% of the time if you cast it judiciously.

    Yurine's nuke loadout:
    weapons:
summit moon (50 hit, 50 dark)
    storm wand indra
    ice staff dagon
    fire scepter angi

    armor:
    lt. mantle (since lvl 110)
    - h/legs
    - h/legs (to max yurine's evp---it isn't maxed without using h/leg units :sad face
    - wizard/tech (gets major attack techs to lvl 30)
    - tp/create(?) maybe use a v801 or something here
safety heart(used to have adv regen bp before safety heart); color merges for bosses
    kumara (185 mind, 15 def)

Yurine maxes in mst (theoretically 7+ the max mst without weapons)

I don't bother nuking in multiplayer. tech resistances are too high. in 1p, it's much more feasible. Very strong slant towards foie techs, so you might want to throw in a red merge.

all attack nukes are lvl 30
grants is lvl 27 (rarely used)
    megid is 29
    s/d/j/z/resta are 30
    anti 7

funny thing is, though, that foneys can melee very effectively in 1p. 1 combo from vivienne after jz is enough to take many monsters down. two combos max. your call.

    Caduceus 0/20/0/30/30
good grants boost, free foie. unfortunately, grants is pretty much useless on foneys. free low level foie is nothing to write home about once you hit ult
    Technical Crozier 45/0/20/0/15
good way to combo barta, but low level. i left mine in the bank ever since i first tried it out
    Twinkle Star 0/0/0/30/50
use summit moon. meleeing with wands is just fail vs the summit moon. and the moon gives better boosts to simple techs (30% vs 20%)
    Plantian Huge Fan 25/20/0/0/60
if that's the partisian, USE IT. it'll help with crowd control, though it has no support tech boost. (or you can give it to me :3...)
    Guardianna 15/0/35/0/40
more for meleeing than nuking. not really worth it, though, since it's a huge tp suck.
    Elysion 20/0/0/15/55
looks cool, free foie, but i left mine in the bank.

other comments: max evp for lvl 200 WITHOUT using ability units (v101 help is fine); max dex for melee; in parties you'll be more support than damage dealing, so go demons and paralyze; for lower levels (like below lvl 185, you might want to focus on tp regen with 50 hit double saber instead of damage with vivienne); maximize tech damage when nuking, so load up on tech boosts and levels--use merges, unless you'll be getting hit really hard; megid is relatively useless, unless you plan to use lots of fluids or regen tp a lot--good for lizards.. junky for other monsters (might as well use a hell handgun with hit)

    MEGIDS!!!!!

I agree with Yuri here. Get rid of the thirteen and go for Lt. Mantle or (at least for me) zee Virus loveliness, and definatley try to get your hands on some Rico earrings, if not the safety heart does nicely. I have nada to say about Yuri's choices of units but to follow that advice... seriously. I however have stuck adamantly all the way from about lvl 140(ish) to my Viv for both its high atp as well and the special attack, I end to lean towards the mid-special-mid combo... or mid-special special combo... you will find it lands quite a bit in any ep if you rabarta succesfuly any target prior (note SUCCESFULY) to trying those combos. I've found it maxamizes tboth the damage I do as well as have a good control of the TP I steal, its a good hurt to steal ratio hahahaha.

    Restastic's Melee Lub..

    Vivienne
    Slicer of Fanatic
    Bringers Rifle
    Megid

    Supp Lub

Glide Divine (who cares is it has %'s)
    P-wand (because im lucky)
Striker of Chao (because it goes Niahhhh Niahhh)

    Armour Lub...

    Virus
    -v101
    -v801
    -cent abil
-adept (cure unit as per needed)
mag- devils wings (150 pow and 50 def)
Bana (high mind and def lol-soz dont remeber exact stats)

As for soloing... I could do most without any problems, though SOF is a HUGE help, and well, lets be honest here, I megids everything thats at mid range (did you know thats the best range for megids?). I would generally lay down a rafoie or two at intervals to keep the monsters stunned, and rabarta to freeze, use SOF special to lower hp a much as possible then run in with Viv (of course stragglers get the Megid treatment).

    as for techs...

    all are 29
    Grants = 30
    Megid = 30
    s/d/j/z/r = 30
    Anti = 7

As for the V801... im a big fan... It allows me to quickly throw out supp techs (z/j/r) as I switch back and forth to melee. Its also noteworthy to mention here that I keep Viv and Glide one after the other in my quick change menu so one is always the next if im using the other, so its seemless changing from melee to supp). I also throw in a ra tech depending on where I am/ whats around me... so you just need to know diff areas/diff weaknesses and throw one out in between changing to stagger the monsters. Also note Megids works in a lovely fashion. Use it.

I also find that Foneys can melee VERY effectively in ep1 ulti as long as you keep on top of z/j/s/d.

I sincerly agree with Yuri's advice though, if theres any to follow as to Fonewearls, its the advice Yuri put up top here. I on the other hand go a little banannas with some "things", and I may as well just throw in my random advice that everyone knows anyways...

When palying in a party, try to start playing by watchin the corners... and by that i mean the status (HP and such) of your party members at the top left, and the map at the top right. As a melee Fo, you have to get right in there, and it can become confusing to follow all the action sometimes... following the map is easier, plus you can always see if anyone in the party needs a supp boost. I use this to keep track of the whole party and place myself in an optimal postion to both melee as well as throw out supp/nuke techs as needed. When someone goes way off I tend to throw out a random "gahhhhhh..." or "meow" to make em stop and type for a sec... yeah... it works sometimes.

And of course..... megids megids megids... how I lub thee. There is an amazing advantage to megids for Fonewearls... and its the magic of piercing... which of course doesnt just mean that it is more effective, but that it can keep going after a kill...Megids is a mid to long range tech, so most people find it useless since they try it up close and personal, and usually at that range it fails. Just from experience ive noticed lots of little things... It works far better on monsters that are in a "natural" stance.... for instance... not in a reeling back (ie: damage cancel pose... yeah i went there lol)... or in an attack pose. Also wait for the telltale target "beep" to really center in on the victim... it seems to work well that way. When you get used to it you can multi target several monsters and frequently take a few down like that. Also for large monsters that can be multi targeted such as Girtas... a straight shot rowards the head targets the body as well as the head... so megids actually touches it mutliple time as it passes... yep... thats how I get thos guys. And as any Fonewearl finds out....for some reason EP2 monsters are allergic to Megids.... they drop like crazy, even reco boxes. Please note though, unless you are soloing... give the other party mebers a chance to tag the monsters prior to spamming out megids like a mad Res, it only results in people not wanting to play in a party with you. Okay zomg i want to play and stop typing. I like cats. Elephants go Phareennnnhhh and how now Res meow.

    Restastic- Fonewearl: 200
