    Default Newman Hunter

I'm considering making my first character a Newman Hunter/Force, and eventually Wartecher. I realise that Newmans are supposed to make poor Hunters, but I'm thinking that with good enough attack boosts + Newmans' naturally high Evasion and decent Accuracy, it'll be something like playing a HUcaseal (one of my favorite classes, and the female class I played most by far) in PSO, but with lower ATP. Once I can actually multiclass, it'll be a lot like a HUnewearl I'm guessing.

I'm kind of thinking of focussing on EVP and see if that's valid at all; most people go for offensive stuff, but a really dodgy Hunter/Force Newman might be interesting to try. Any thoughts, or anyone else planning on doing anything like this/have any early info once people are actually able to try stuff like this out?

Given that you'll have excellent shifta/deband probably, I'd say it's not a bad idea once you get the ability to become a wartecher. What you lack offensively stat-wise you can easily make up in other methods.

Wartechers rock. Fighters that can heal themself and do some AoE.. awesome.

Yeah, and there's more buffs than just Shifta and Deband in this game... hopefully it'll be a good choice and a great first, and hopefully main, character online.

Hopefully we'll have lots of support for interesting things like Newman Hunters here, like how the Force board already seems to have a few people willing to try Cast Forces :P

Sounds like a good idea to me.

If your main focus is being a good Hunter, as in doing as much damage as possible, then I don't think Wartecher is the solution you're looking for. Fortefighter would give you a lot more attack power than Wartecher.

I see your logic in making a Newman Wartecher, that you'd make up for your weak attack power with buffs. But if you're a Newman Fortefighter with a Force in your party casting buffs on you, then you'd be doing way more damage than a Wartecher casting buffs on himself.

I would only recommend Wartecher if you're dead set on using your magic for more than just buffing. If you're looking to balance out your close-range combat with long-range spellcasting, that would make more sense. But if you're just trying to make up for ATP loss, there's much better ways to do that.

Right. A newman fortefighter is one of the worst possible combinations to use, unless you happen to really like how this character looks in combat, giving up function in favor of form. Otherwise, a beast fortefighter is a helluva better choice. Newman wartecher makes sense though yeah.

Wartechers are soloing machines. Close range combat with buffs and AoE spells.. whats not to like.

Yeah, I totally understand. If I wanted to be a fortefighter, I'd probably be a Beast or Cast; being a newman fortefighter 'just to be unique' would still be kind of silly, and I really like all the races, I'm not close-minded.

I was just thinking of being something unique, but also functional. Definately, I'd use other Techs than my buffs, I'm just saying that would help me become more competent when compared to others; I should have decent heals, and also be able to peruse spells to great effect depending on the situation; maybe cassing a lot of Gi-series to get stuff off me, and then mowing down the rest once they're scattered, for example, or using a strong tech I have against something that I know is very weak to so-and-so element. Or using spells instead of ranged weapons for taking down hard-to-hit enemies.

I'd get S-ranked Daggers and Twin Daggers too, so that's a plus. And like I said, another good thing about a Newman Hunter would be having the highest Evasion; though most people wouldn't think of it and would rather focus on HP or defense for 'tanking' as a hunter, a very high EVP can work wonders; like I've said, I loved high-EVP HUcaseals in PSO.
