Default Miyamoto got demoted-will now work on fewer games....

Exclusive: Miyamoto's duties slashed as 'big game focus' decided for famed producer
NOJ - 'Miyamoto to be working on significantly fewer games'

We have received word form highly placed sources within Nintendo of Japan that famed Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has had his duties slashed, with the producer now working on a significantly smaller portfolio of titles.

"Miyamoto must concentrate on few games with more focus," a Nintendo source explained to our contact in Japan. "There are huge games that need his full attention, so the general overseeing of a broad range of products must be cut back," news that surely points to the absence of Mario 128 in any form for what is becoming an embarrassing amount of time.

"His responsibilities for overseeing the development of other titles will be passed to Eiji Aonuma and a team of other senior producers at Nintendo," the Nintendo official continued.

This shift in focus for Miyamoto - which seems to be no real secret internally at NOJ - is designed to see games in the Zelda, Pikmin and Mario series reach the marketplace, having been fully worked by Miyamoto to his fullest satisfaction, in a shorter timeframe.

It would also be possible to point towards the disappointed reaction to Mario Sunshine as a catalyst for this decision.

If we learn any more, we'll let you know.

now he'll have more time to make the next zelda, mario, and pikmin even better. i don't see why this is called a demotion... did his job title change? he's just focusing on a smaller set of projects which, whether it qualifies as a demotion or not, will make him a more valuable asset for nintendo.

thanks for the good news xte

Yea, this is probably a better idea than what was going on b4 this. This is exactly what Rare was saying when they make games. They have a set amount of people to work on it to make it the best it can be.

With this move, Those games will be better than they were supposed to be.
Playing: L.A. Noire, Child of Eden
    Next: Shadows of the Damned
Thoughts: E3 is over. Possibly the most underwhelming E3 in years. Bring back the surprises!!

I assume that spong made up the title. This isn't even a demotion. Lately, Miyamoto hasn't even developed any video games other than Pikmin. Being a producer is nice...for instance, Miyamoto helped Retro come up with a fitting control scheme for Metroid Prime. But having a hand in minor things like this, over several projects (he also gave similar help with game development on the Cube and control schemes for Metal Gear Solid) just thins out his abilities. I think this may even cause people to whine less about Nintendo games supposedly not being as good as ones in the past. With greater focus, Miyamoto can now give his full creative attention to the quality of the games he works on rather than the mechanics to the games he works on. But it is just like the media to blow everything out of preportion...just like those fake reports about Nintendo not having a new console because they were just going to keep using the Gamecube...why was this? Because the media is quick to hype the negative when it comes to Nintendo...

    LOL I never did that....

At any rate, yes this will stop Nintendo from ever again releasing more 'flops' than they did this gen. (I'm not referring to sales-wise, here)

Why do you ask for a link if you don't even use it? Look like Xte made up the title

LOL....as far as i remember the word "demote" applies, here's the meaning of demote again to refresh your memory........

    de·mote ( P ) Pronunciation Key (d-mt)
    tr.v. de·mot·ed, de·mot·ing, de·motes

To reduce in grade, rank, status or responsibilities......

Hell, Sega should be thinking the same thing. This doesnt make miyamoto demoted, this just makes him have less games to focus on at the same tme so he can put as much effort into them as possible. Great idea if you ask me.
