Lets take the sucessful ness aside. Im just wondering what you think had the best hardware for its time. I like the XBOX, and DC. I think G-Cube's hardware was average, and Ps2 really isn't that good even though it was released in 2000.

I dream of the dc coming back for years, and years. The Gamecube is awesome and the xbox has very bad selection of games in different genre's.
I'd go with NeS or DC.
well, DC to be more obvious since its a mid-generation system
PC is more powerful than Xbox, we dont see PC porting games to DC but we do to Xbox, and at same level my PC performs better...

Xbox has a Pentium 3/Celeron, not Pentium 3...For best hardware I would say GameCube or PS2.
I would put my votes behind the Genesis and Dreamcast. Each represented a step foward in gaming that was at least double or ten times the power of their competitors. They also represented near arcade perfect or arcade perfect translations, which wasn't very common with hardware before them. I feel that both Genesis and Dreamcast came at just the right time in order to be ahead of their time.

Actually the XBOX hard drive is only 10GB. And only 8GB of it are usable by the user. Not like it matters though. With 8GB of space you could save every game in your collection rather easily (consiering that the average game library size is something like 25-34 games).Originally Posted by AwlAmericanDawg

Im going with Genesis. It was very powerful when it first came out as Megadrive in Japan in 1988. it was mighty powerful to people then.

so.. the best hardware for a console's time?
the obvious answer is the dreamcast, being that it was a competitor for the PS1 and the N64 before it was a competitor for the PS2 etc. and it is still better then the ps2.
the second answer i would give is the Genesis. it competed with the NES for 2 years, and kicked it's :):):), then it competed with the SNES, released 2 years later, and still kicked it's :):):); hardware and software.
But the best hardware for it's time still rings in to the DC, and i may be afanboy, but it's true.
If you want to argue the PS2 arguement, then pick it with someone else. Simply put, if you start the argument with me, you won't win.
Dreamcast came out in 1998, at the time the only systems out were 8,32 and 64 bit. The Dreamcast had a onboard modem, cds, network compatibility, 128 bit risc and a very fast cd drive and proccesing speed
