Thread: 2 360's on a router can't get in squad room together

Default 2 360's on a router can't get in squad room together

I recently picked up another copy of Chromehounds for my girlfriend. We can play every other game we have tried together. And she routinely hosts a 16 player GRAW room while I host CH games without any problems. Obviously my router is configured correctly and bandwidth is not an issue (8mb down/2mb up). Yet when we try to play chromehounds together it sends her to a supposedly empty lobby every time if I'm online. Is there any way to fix this? This second copy is completely pointless if we can't play at the same time.

Most likely your router is filtering internal network requests incorrectly.

    Works like this:

Girlfriend makes a lobby. IP address = Your real world address.
You do a search, see lobby, IP address = Your real world address.

When you try and connect, your router tries to get smart and says "Oh, that's me - he really wants a computer at (your internal LAN address... usually like 192.168.1.x) and it redirects the packets.

    And the connection fails.

There are often settings in the router that let you turn on and off filtering WAN requests... you also may have to have a UPnP compliant router with UPnP turned on.

I have one. It has worked flawlessly since turning on UPnP for everything but CH. It allows us to play in GRAW lobbies just fine. Yet in CH it causes that same glitch where some players are sent to an empty lobby. But thanks, I'll poke around in my router some more.

Edit: And when I say lobby I mean that we are in the same squad. First one in sees the members who are present, yet the second one gets sent to an empty map screen.

Just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that it has been working absolutely fine today. I changed absolutely nothing but with the same people in the squad room both 360's can come and go without problems.

Although another squadmate was afflicted with the "alternate lobby" problem earlier. Even if we all signed out he was always put in an empty lobby. Considering that he does even own a router and has his xbox plugged directly into his modem, I'm going to have to believe the problem is on SEGA/FROM's end of things.

While I'm happy that my $120 wasn't wasted and I don't have to try to return one copy, my belief that 99% of the server problems are due to router incompatibilities is fading.
