So far the only band to be named in this thread that is a American rock band from the 60s is the Doors..
My favorites:
The Doors
Jefferson Airplane
Bob Dylan (solo artist, but whatever)
Now Playing:
inFamous (PS3)
Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition (PS3)
Doobie Brothers and Petra (never actually heard of them before) are American, but formed in the 70s. Forgot to add in Credence, sorry.
The rest are all British bands that gained popularity in America during the British Invasion.
Jimi Hendrix is American, but his band "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" formed in London.
Now Playing:
inFamous (PS3)
Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition (PS3)
CCR is 60's they formed in '67. In Cali, so they're a 60's american rock band.
Doobie bros. were 1970, so I was wrong there, and Petra was '72.
