For a serious gamer perspective, I'd agree with you, but I'm not that big of a addict so I don't see the need of getting rid of an inferior console when the others simply don't appeal to me. I bet it's the same case with many others.
The Wii's just fine to me, whether it was badly planned out or not. I value it because if it wasn't for the excuse to exchange a GameCube for it I'd probably never be part of the current gen of consoles now. Saying right away it's inferior hurts seeing as I'm not the wealthiest of people around, hence I prefer to call for individual subjectivity because that way everyone's happy.
Lastly, yeah, I never understood why Nintendo likes to be one step behind at performance all the time. Started with the GCN, same thing goes on with the Wii. Wouldn't it be easier to work a tad harder on the system rather than make it the smallest and cheapest thing possible? It works if it's interesting, but for a dedicated gamer it starts to feel bland after a while. I agree it could have a bit more to it.
