That or maybe they got mixed in how to represent it because the official lineart for CD also does show her quills inverted, even in the animated ending. My only real grip with STC Amy's design was how they tried to give her a neck.

They were being pretty stupid with her design "HER HAIR IS DEFYING GRAVITY...IT MUST BE LIKE THAT ALWAYS!"
But I like it. I think she looks alright.
