Default Bring Back The Chromehounds Servers

Not to long before the servers were closed I had finally bought another copy of Chromehounds after having being forced to go with out it for about a year and a half when my old disk broke, I was extremely excited and as soon as I got home I went onto Chromehounds, I spent all day making my clan, building my hounds and fighting in the online battles.

The next day I had gotten some Microsoft points and I purchased some of the downloadable parts for my hound and later that day my friend had gone out and gotten his own Chromehounds disk, later that night we spent hours fighting the other remaining players and having a lot of fun and getting really into playing the game.

Two days passed and me and my friend we still having fun and we were also convincing other players to buy the game, then the following morning whilst trying to get back onto the server we were met with the “cant connect to Chromehounds server” sign, having played Chromehounds before and having experienced the server updates and stuff before I told my friend that they must be fixing the server and that it should be back online the next day.

The next day we sadly had met the same problem so we decided to wait till the end of the weekend and try again then, when Monday came we still could not connect and I said to my friend that there must be a large problem and that I didn’t remember the updates to the server taking so long but we still continued to check for almost an entire month, when my friend looked on the Chromehounds website and had read that the servers were shutdown he then told me this unfortunate news.

Personally I was devastated that the best online game I have ever played was now no longer online.

This meant that more then half the game was gone, almost all the achievements we now unlock-able, and that I had spent Microsoft points on the game and they apparently a waste.

I did realise during the game that not many people were playing the online… but reminding you that ‘Call of duty: Modern warfare 2’ was still pretty new so most people would be on that, I just think it is a shame that Sega didn’t give the game a little bit more time and had waited till ‘Call of duty: Modern warfare 2’ had became less popular to see if the Chromehounds servers had gotten more players.

recently I have seen my Chromehounds disk and it has made me rather sad that a game as brilliant as it could be taken away from me, I have told some of my friends about what has happened and most of them gave a look at Chromehounds and told me that they would have bought it if it was still online.

Me and my friend would have picked Chromehounds over any game when the servers were up… but sadly we no longer can go onto the servers… and we were forced to buy other games.

I just think that Sega should bring back the servers because I am sure that after the players find out that they are back up they will start playing, and when they do start playing people will see that they are playing it and will ask about it and I bet that anyone who played the Chromehounds online they would say it was brilliant.

Nice try pal, SEGA and Microsoft don't care. Sorry, but that's the truth.

Yeah, pretty much. Sega wouldn't even hand the servers open to Microsoft, they're not going to unlike the MP only parts in SP, and despite the entire ballgame being a breach of the TOS with microsoft over maintaining the online mode.... nobody gives a flying rat's ***.

Unhappy BRING BACK CHROMEHOUNDS the BEST Online Wargame EVER!

My first Xbox 360 game and the only Online game that was so much better than the story on the disc.I soon realized the disc was just the beginning of my training for the real wargames on Xbox live. I just recently found out about the server's being turned off last January and for the last 2 nights at work have been reminiscing over the best times I ever had playing an online game, with a squad full of friends.(the theme song running thru my head.) "From Software" and "Sega" really put a lot of thought and work to create such a multifaceted online gaming experience. A thinking man's shooter involving strategy, tactics, technical builds, weaponry, armament,Squad lobbies in our own countries! Being part of a Squad getting to know, work and support each other in battle and discussions in the lobby. No other game had that real sense of comrades or brothers in arms. Win or lose we were a team, a family. From Jan. 2007 to Jan of 2009 I put in 1600-1700 hours of my life in this game (as many of us did). Often on days off from work I was online for 12-16 hours at a time. We played squads from Japan,China,Italy,Germany,Australia,Britain...(tru ly an International game.)When Halo 3 came out I had to start reminding people more often to show up but Chromehounds was still ALIVE. Towards the end of 2008 I removed some of my best squadmates for not showing up for months or they left to find a boosting squad to get those gold medals. For awhile I did 1 on 1 live matches or some freebattle.... Damn, I felt let down and dismayed, first at my squad and I couldn't understand how this GREAT game with staying power and so many battlefields was losing popularity to "Rehashed Standardized Run,Gun,Dodge,Jump and Respawn (usually done simultaneously) Rinse & Repeat Shooters" online. But I really couldn't blame my friends (90% of them are still from Chromehounds). The Xbox 360 is about being able to play various types of great games that are out there...Hell,my copies of Halo 3, Fallout 3,Mass Effect and Bioshock were still waiting to be opened,so I did. I thought CHROMEHOUNDS would always be there.I checked back at Chromehounds a few more times and now, nothing except for - The Chromehounds server is temporarily unavailable. Please try later. CHROMEHOUNDS will be sorely missed by the many who truly loved this game....For me it was and is the only online game worth playing..Tarkus 5 a 52 year old gamer and "Former Squad leader" of "FORSAKEN WOLVES"

Question BRING BACK CHROMEHOUNDS the BEST Online Wargame EVER!

It seems that, to many of us Chromehounds followers, time frame is divided in life before and after Chromehounds. This game online playability was truly an involving experience. Amen to Tarkus 5 words because they truly describe our years playing this game.

This game alone redefined the words ¨addictive¨ and ¨involving¨ as no other game, as of today, has been able to, in my opinion. This game had so much depth, it was unreal: every time you build a new mech, it was like playing a brand new game allover again - insane.

A can understand the corporate thinking backing the decisions for closing the servers; after all Sega is a business that has same goal as the small store right next to my home: make money and if you are doing something in your business that is supposed to make you earn money and it ain´t, it isn´t worth keeping, as it becomes an expense. In times like this, cutting down on expenses becomes a great deal for anyone individual to business alike.

But what I cant truly understand is how smaller companies like Day 1 Studios can keep their servers running for their 7 year old game Mech Assault 2 and much bigger Co. like Sega can´t for Chromehounds. I don´t think Day 1 is making anymore money out of MA2 so my guess is that it all depends on how committed the company is to their loyal customers.

I guess to some companies is more important to keep us gamers satisfied than to make tons of money.

Anyway, my hopes are still high, that some how, in some way, this game online playability will be back.

It would be easy to forget if someone would make a game that is worthwhile and better than Chromehounds (or at least on its level).

What I want to know is:

Why has the game industy de-evolved from complex games that you can barely beat to very simple ones that have no substance?

Games used to kick your butt much like CH did and they sold very well. Over time they have become so dumbed down they are rediculous and only worth a 3 day rental. Yet, the game industry forges on down this road hemorraging cash all over the place.

Right now it looks like Front Line may have what it takes and Mechwarrior if they ever release the darned thing. This was the worst E3 showing in history. Lackluster is putting it nicely.
