playing the demo is how i found out about psu ^_^ it may not be the best place but it is fun if you just avoid the demo noobs while playing it and where i am it is harder to come by the psu game. its more rare since they stopped making the game dics's.

Botton line is TRY IT, LIKE IT, BUY IT!
we need the demo. not for us but for those who haven't found it yet

Let them reset it a couple more times, once every month, to see how much effective it is on converting demo players to full game. It'd be not too late for them to decide after then whether to shut it down for good or not.

The latest demo reset was done on Aug 5th, so the next reset should be around Sept 6, a month later. Those demo players who's been around since the last reset that was done on Apr 15 might think that it'd be another 3-4 months til the next reset, I wanna see how their face turns when their data gets wiped in only 1 month.

I think the demo should of been the first 3/4 chapters of the single player game because it guides you through the game basics. Tho this might of been a 2gig demo...
This way you would of had a good sample of the game and how it was meant to be seen. Following the full game you have Extra mode to play with and this alone would leave you wondering the benefits of what it would be like in Multi-player.

The demo does not offer the basics because if your new you are thrown in at the deep end and the demo does allow you to wonder off in the wrong direction where it can be overwhelming which is enough to put you off long before you you come face to face with text spammers.

anyway I vote yes because the text spamming is disgusting. Not only that I would not be surprised if people that do play the full game online do return to the demo just to boost their ego's and get a kick out of it because they know what they are doing and like to take advantage of the noobs. Both parties are to blame in many ways...

The monthly charge is nothing - if your drink anything more than 2 pints over here in a month and youve already exceeded what the sub is. I spend more per month on dailly newspapers that i do on the sub for PSU... its works out to me as being less than £2 a week, that is hee haw even if your stuck on minimum wage. I treated my wife and I to a lovely chinese takeaway last night and that cost me over £11... on a single takeaway for two, which was gone in 10 minutes - the sub gets me a good 30 days of gameplay from day till night if i had the time or really wanted to.

I mean how much is a pack of ten cigarettes nowadays... people really do exagerate a little when it comes to the expense of this monthly tab when comparing it to well anything really.

Weekly resets sound good, wipe the data every Thursday. Lock the text shortcuts.

The demo, though full of foulness, is also how I found the game. There are a LOT of people who do use the, "Why should I pay $10 a month?", line, but there are those who do see the benefit.

I would guess all of the old PSO people have already come (and gone?) from PSU, so the demo is the only thing that gives people an insight into the game and now they don't even have to find a disc to play (or even pay for AOTI) should they happen to like it. That doesn't mean that Joe Random is going to just download PSU because it is available on demand. The demo lets them know what the basic game play is like and it does a decent job of that. Yes, there is no just attack/counter, the meseta drops are garbage and the missions are limited, but that isn't the point. X to attack, Y to use a photon art (or XXXXXX as a gunner, X/Y/RBX/RBY as a techer, XXX on the 4th floor - er, that isn't really game play), pick stuff up, maybe synth it . . . etc.

I think I went through 2 wipes on the demo before I bought the game. Make those happen more often and the people who enjoy the game itself will be more likely to either get the full game or quit the demo and the less desirable parts of the population will be stuck in the filter of the demo.

Nope the demo should remain up.

I'ts a gateway for people to come over to the real thing...at least until the put in the "silver" guardians liscence.

They should get Chris Hanson over there tho..
