Thread: Please Help Me

    Default Please Help Me

    Hi everyone,

I just bought Resonance of Fate 2 days ago, and I really love it. I finished the Prologue and I have gotten to the section where Tar Man is. But I cannot proceed and I keep dying there.

Why is this game so extremely hard? I am a new female gamer and I find it very difficult to beat enemies and Tar Man.

I don't want to return this game as I would love to play it, but it's just too hard for me. Unless there is some sort of cheat or a strategy I can use to keep playing and progressing?

Why didn't they include an EASY MODE for beginner gamers? For an experienced gamer or a very skilled person, this may be playable, but the rest of us, it's just too hard.

I hope someone can help me because otherwise I need to return the game for a refund.

    Please help. Thank you.

I wasn't an expert either when I fought the first bosses (and I don't consider myself one either after finishing the game) what you should have in mind in this game is that strategy is all in combat, I also repeated many boss fights until I found a way to break their defences, and replenish my bezels at the same time.

In this fight you must have in mind that you only have three bezels, because it is the beginning of the game, so you must learn not to waste them and replenish them, killing the robots is a good way, but they are only two, and breaking the boss body parts is the other one, so you should ignore the two robots with explosive containers when starting the combat, and kill one of them when you need to replenish the bezels. The boss regenerates his body parts using the fuel container, so you should destroy it to avoid that.

Making a search on youtube that nice video did show up as the first option:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBD5hAoA04o

In case you are still green with the game I will explain:

1 - Zephyr deals scratch damage (with the machine-gun) to all the body parts, to do this you must attack from above while jumping (uses 1 bezel)
2 - Leane deals direct damage (guns) and transforms the scratch damage into direct damage, breaking most of the body parts (uses one bezel, recovers 2 bezels)
3 - Vash skips the turn, he can only deal direct damage with the gun, and he is the third to move, skipping the turn will allow the three characters to move again the order you want, you will lose any resonance point doing it though, but the one in the video doesn't seem to use this function at any moment.
4 - Zephyr deals full scratch damage to the container in the first shot and some scratch damage to the boss in the second one (uses 1 bezel)
The boss regenerates his body parts at the end of the movement before leane could destroy the container.
    5 - Vash skips turn
6 - Leane destroys the container (not running uses no bezels, and recovers 1)
7 - Zephyr deals some scratch damage to all the body parts (uses 1 bezel)
8 - Leane destroys one of the robots, the upper part is explosive so litle direct damage can destroy them, then transforms the scratch damage into direct damage and destroys some body parts (uses 1 bezel, recovers 2)

    Repeat from "5"

I'd also recommend checking this tutorial video posted in this same forum:

And repeating all the basic tutorials in the arena until you understand them all!!

Thank you for your consideration and time to reply to me.

I will do as you recommended and try again.

I wish they had have included an easy mode though Cause I really love the game so far but find the fighting and learning the battle system and defeating enemies rather overwhelming.

I can't beat the monster at the bridge either, it's just too tough.

How can I upgrade my character strengths before I take on the bosses and enemies? And is there a limit that I can upgrade at this stage, or can I spend a few hours in beginning of game upgrading characters?

And how do I heal my characters during battle? When I throw first aid on my characters, it always says zero, "0" and doesn't seem to work. Why?

From my experience, the part that improves the most your characters is the weapon customization, leveling them up will only rise their HP and the weight they can carry.

The most important part when you level up is the individual weapon level you rise, the more levels a weapon has, the more damage you can deal if you charge it enough, and to charge it faster you need to mod your weapon (with barrels and sights)

It is recommended to level up each weapon with each character, because you will not have your full team at some points in the game...

Upgrades will regularly appear in the shop and in the tinkerers' list, and there are some easy ways to get money, like doing "aerial attacks" and "smackdowns" on the enemies and then selling the items they drop, and in middle game there is also an exploit to learn tons of money (which is useful to buy all the characters wardrobe early in the game)

So if I go to arena area and fight monters for a few hours, so smackdowns etc, I can pick up objects and sell them and buy weapon upgrades before I proceed to take on Tar Man?

Btw, I read a walk-through and it says to use Metal-coated rounds. But I think I used them already on someone else

I don't recommend you grinding for hours in that game, specially on the arena, unless you want to unlock one of the achievements/trophies, you will get enough money and exp doing random fights, and there are not that many upgrades starting the game.

Enemy bodies and parts can go from soft to hard, hollow rounds will deal more damage to soft enemies, while metal coated rounds can deal more damage to hard ones. It is not a feature I used much in the game, specially when you are able to carry two weapons at the same time.

I prefer looking for a weak point in the enemy defences, look at the health bars surrounding the enemy, they are placed where body parts are, if you jump and attack you will shoot to all parts, or an upper part, but if you stay on the ground you will attack only in the direction you are shooting, so you can place your character in an enemy's weak spot and deal direct damage to their bodies ignoring body parts, or concentrating on a single body part. Example, the fat mafia guys from random fights, they wear a hat and a coat, if you shot them from their sides/back or jumping you will deal damage to their clothes, but if you run straight to them and shoot in their front you will deal direct damage to the main body ignoring body parts.

I have been juming and shooting a lot so I will keep in mind to not jump but fire straight into them instead.

I am starting the game again, because I need those specially coated bullets to defeat Tar Man. It's very hard though, because I must fight myself through 3 levels first before I reach Tar man, and by that time my party is very damaged and hurt.

After 4 days and 20 hours fighting Tar Man, I finally beat him

What do you suggest I do now so I don't get stuck fighting the next boss for another 4 days? What level should my characters be at now? And what do I need to do to weapons etc? Thanks for your help.

Really the only advice I can give is to take a close look at the health bars surrounding the enemies, the main body is shown as the HP bar on top of the enemy, and all the others are body parts protecting the main body, sometimes they completely protect the enemy and you have to destroy them first, and other times they can be avoided by shooting at the enemy from a certain position, that's the most important part I didn't get at the beginning and made me understand more the battle system in middle game, and before that I beat some bosses without understanding why I killed a certain boss in three movements after retrying the combat many times (because I dealt a huge damage to the main body, that was why).

Some enemies will have a huge health bar, or sometimes they will regenerate scratch damage very fast, there is another feature called gauge break, a health bar can be broken by half (and resulting in two smaller bars) by dealing a huge damage with handguns or certain grenades, doing this you will recover a bezel even if you don't destroy the part, and you will get another bezel by destroying each one of them. The ability to do this is gained by leveling up the weapon level, and the more you charge your weapon before shooting, the higher chance to do it.

In my opinion this game is more about strategy than power leveling like many other J-RPGs, I did beat the game with my characters around lvl 80, and for what I've read from other players, that's a low level to beat the game. Didn't make it to the extra dungeon though, this one really takes some extra grinding to survive lol

The health bars still confuse me. It seems the blue bar, that is not affected at all by anyone except for Leanne. Only Leanne can bring the blue bar down for some reason. How come?

So can you explain to me again...I should be shooting at the main body and see what angle I should be standing at to hit the body?

What is the main aim of getting a bezel? That's those orange things on the scree right? Is that so when all bezel's are full, I can do a tri-attack? Is that the goal of getting bezels?
