    Default Notice Regarding Demo Servers

Attention, GUARDIANS & Demo GUARDIANS --

This notice is to inform our users that the demo service for Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360 will be shut down as of March 7th, 2011.

The demo has been active for over four years, since before the launch of the full game, and has been useful in introducing many people to Phantasy Star Universe. We want to thank everyone who has participated in the demo. While the demo has been a valuable tool, it is no longer feasible to maintain and support, and we wish to focus our full efforts in maintaining and supporting the full version, including regular content updates.

If you have played and enjoyed the demo, now is an excellent time to move to the full version. It is available for purchase on Microsoft Games on Demand, and you can upgrade to the AOTI expansion for free.

If you’ve only played the demo, now is a great time to upgrade to the full version. You will receive access to dozens of additional missions, additional difficulty levels, hundreds of additional weapons and items, and the full story mode, not to mention a full slate of updates and events yet to come.

You are all welcome to discuss this here but please keep from trolling and please be reasonable and follow our rules, or we'll have to close the thread

I guess it was broken beyond repair, technically. It was a lost cause years prior.

I just hope all the scammers and porn sellers don't join the server.

Does this mean that maybe we can get updates weekly like japan instead of every other week?

    This is very good news.

I doubt they'll want to pay the monthly fee -- the appeal to the wretched hive of scum & villainy types on the demo was that it was (aside from the Gold subscription) free. But if they do show up, we'll take their monthly fee money, and ban them.

A problem with the demo server was that bans don't stick for long -- at most, they stuck until we wiped the demo servers each time. This was an issue of minimal support and functionality built into it from the start, not to mention that even if we had more banning capabilities for the demo, the time and effort of finding every terrible person on there could be better utilized doing a lot of other things.

Not broken beyond repair. It's more that we have to decide what gets our attention and what doesn't. The full version gets all our resources; other than occasionally wiping the demo we simply didn't feel it was feasible to spend time & money working to repair. In my opinion there's lots to be said for & against the demo, but I'll spare you the wall of text for now

Lol, this is completely irrelevant to the demo getting shut down. Although, announcing how we are to get the GC-related content accompanying this announcement would be exceptional.
