I was very, very impressed. True to the spirit of the original comics, yet also taken in it's own direction. It really felt like a Marvel Comic, with little references back and forth to other films. It felt like you could almost see the little footnote "See Iron Man 2 - Editor!" when the SHIELD agents are wondering if the Destroyer is one of Stark's.
I do have some small casting complaints. First, Sif was known for her long, luxurious, golden hair. It was such a prominent feature that, in the mythology, when Loki cut it all off as a prank, the only way he got Thor to not strangle him was to promise to have newer, better hair made for her. The actress playing Sif in the movie was fantastic, but they could have done a dye job or a wig or something. Not trying to sound racist either, but Heimdall is a black guy and one of Thor's buddies is Asian? The Asgard aren't exactly known for racial variety.
But aside from these incredibly minor complaints, the movie was about as close to perfect as possible.
I just saw the movie this afternoon, and I thought it was great. The acting was good and the story was well-written. I'm not familiar with the Thor comics, so I can't really speak to the movie's faithfulness to them, but as someone who is new to the franchise I really enjoyed the movie.
Really great film. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I came in with some basic knowledge of the Thor comics but, much of it was new to me and I loved Thor's interactions with humans when he finds himself on Earth. There were so many fish-out-of-water moments. I loved It!
Loki was cool too. I liked how subtle he was when weaving his web of deception. All around awesome movie and I can't wait for Captain America and then, the Avengers.
Oh, and did anyone else watch the scene after the credits?
Same here. The movie was awsome. I love the part some one called the name Barton. And a guy running to ammo closet and when I saw him go for the compact bow I knew it was Hawkeye. That was the 2nd best part of the movie that they used Clint in that part. I loved it and I missed out on the last part of the movie where they werelle showing the Cosmic Cube. I'm getting the 3 combo 3d pack. Can't wait tell next week.
