my headset wont work online

so when black ops came out i got it and i got the headset for it for christmas and it still works now on black ops. now i
tried to use it on conduit 2 to and it glitches up. when im in the first screen after you hit online multiplayer i go to options and the sound bar shows when i talk. then when i get into a match, it shows a line through the headset icon and when i go to options it doesnt show the sound bar when i talk (and yes i do have the headset turned on). how do i fix this?

I don't have a headset, but I think I know what is going on based on my experience with Monster Hunter Tri.

Black Ops lets you talk to anyone, even if they don't have a headset, right? I think Conduit 2 doesn't work like that. If you haven't exchanged friend codes or done a rival request with someone, you can't talk to them. I think that's why you have a line through your microphone icon. If you want to use your microphone, I suggest you send someone a rival request in the lobby before the game starts.

yah i got it to work after i posted that, but ur rite u have to be friends or rivals with people to talk to them
