Why do people dislike Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 so much?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 was actually a great game, so I don't even know why people hate it so much. The leval design was brilliant and it fit in so perfectly with all of the characters and how they played. The graphics were great to (for 2006). Also I thought the story was very good and well paced. All in all I would say it's a great game well worth playing.

What do you guys think?

Well, for myself I enjoyed playing this game allthough it wasn't that great... But at least Tails was playable (even if he just had only 1 level and those annoying ring bombs ><)

The problem with the game is that it's not as much unfinished as rushed.
People aren't willing to wait a long time just to get a single message and then loading again. It is not fun for them to suddenly get a bug that kills them. Sure, you can find a person who will love the game for its glitchyness and will love abusing them to the max, but for most people, they are just painful.
Not to mention that infamous scene with Elise and Sonic, but that cannot be a reason to hate this game on its own, I hope.

Well I don't mind loading times and I never get any of these "bugs" as you refer to them (I didn't even know there were bugs in Sonic games). I found it fine.

agreed that game was epic!! it had epic music and an story was really epic, and the final boss battle was epically epic! i can't believe so many people hate on this epic game!

People still think Sonic 2006 is bad even 4 years after it was released! 2006 is my favorite Sonic game, but it does have one problem.

Here's the deal:
While I was on a forum different than this one, people were discussing something about Sonic, and I stepped in and said something about Sonic 06, and then the other people said stuff like "SONIC 06 SUCKS!!1", "IT'S TRASHY!1!!!!!!" "GARBAGE!!!!!!!!one-eleven!", things like that", and I asked "Why?", and they said "Silver. End of story.".

Come on!! If you REALLY hate Silver the Hedgehog so much, you think he makes the game suck, then why don'tcha insert your Sonic 06 disk on to your computer, look through its files, and delete every trace of Silver the Hedgehog from the game, like deleting the character models of him, modifying the movie/voice clips so they don't have Silver appear or mentioned/referenced, and even delete his ENTIRE EPISODE from the game so that, when you unlock a new episode by playing some of Sonic's episode, it skips right ahead to unlocking Shadow's episode rather than Silver's. Of course, you'd have to make a few tweaks to the game's programming/source so the game doesn't crash on you.

Want a game with a character that's annoying yet despite this, the game still got overwhelmingly positive reviews? Star Fox 64.

The game had Slippy Toad in it, and he's considered very annoying, just like people consider Silver the Hedgehog annoying (even though they're completely unrelated), yet people praised Star Fox 64 as if it was their god. And yet the same people who praised Star Fox 64 HAZED Sonic 06 for having the addition of the annoying Silver the Hedgehog in it, even though Slippy's just equally as annoying as Silver.

Yup, that's what I was thinking of doing. 1337-haxx0ring my Sonic 06 disc and removing every trace of Silver from it so the game doesn't suck. Probably naming the modified version "Garfield Sonic 06 Minus Garfield Silver" or "Phantom Sonic Next Gen Edit". All for my own enjoyment (maybe I'll provide a step-by-step guide on how to make your own "Sonic 06 Minus Silver" someday). And I'm taking the risk of invalidating my XBOX 360/PlayStation 3 warranty during the process. And since I actually OWN both Sonic 06 and Star Fox 64 (the original Nintendo 64 cartridge of it, no more or less), maybe I'll hack SF64 as well and make "Star Fox 64 Minus Slippy". It'll have Slippy completely removed from the game yet each boss's lifebar still shows anyway (maybe).

Seriously if everyone would join me in hacking there sonic 2005 games, this game would be getting a lot less hate

Silver was kinda the only thing bad about the game and I think the game would be better without him.

And Starfox 64 is one of my favorite gaems of all time I can't believe you would make fun of one of the main characters like that.

The glitches, the long loading times, the characters in the game, the story and not to mention Sonic and Elise were just awful. I enjoyed some parts of the game, like certain Sonic levels, but the rest of it was terrible. I was very disappointed that Tails was only playable in one tiny part and he had the sucky ring bomb attack from Heroes. (Although, one good thing about the glitches was being able to get Tails onto Sonic's part of the level which he's not suppose to be on)
