Lord-Gazza's got a great point. This is a largely undeveloped chunk of short history, that cold go along with the other two games, given the conflict. It'd be interesting to maybe have more than one campaign, since the factions fighting the war seemes pretty splintered from what I could tell. Like pockets of resistance fighting seperate rebel armies.
A game set during the Gallian Civil War could easily focus on the regular army. If I recall correctly, while Lanseal cadets were fighting rebels in the south, the regular army was fighting them in the north.
If we're talking about a game set in EW3, I actually came up with a plot idea just the other day, that doesn't need to introcude new elements to the cannon. Let me know what you think!
"It is the year 1955, roughly twenty years since the end of VC 1 and eighteen years since the end of the Gallian Civil War. The tensions between the Atlantic Federation and the East Europan Imperial Alliance have been mounting ever since the peace treaty at the end of the Second Europan war, resulting in what has become known as the 'Europan Cold War' and everyone is convinced that a third spate of armed hostilities is brewing. For some members of the Empire however, the idea of yet another great war is intolerable and they formally secede from the Empire, forming a military alliance with Gallia and Archduchess Cordellia, joining in Gallia's policy of neutrality. Unfortunately, this bold move convinces the Atlantic Federation that the time to strike is now, launching an all-out attack on Imperial territory. The Empire, desperate to reclaim its position of power, responds in kind and sends a full three army corps to re-take the seceded provinces. This in turn leads to the Atlantic Federation dispatching troops into the neutral states, to attempt to claim them before the Empire does.
Caught in the middle of all this, Cordellia is left with no choice but to involve Gallia in the war, given the nature of the alliances she signed with the former Imperial nations! The Third Europan War enters full swing, with both Gallia's regular army and legendary militia being deployed to the front lines, in order to protect the sovereignty of their newfound allied nations. Heroes such as Welkin Gunther and his wife, Alicia, are re-activated and brought back into military service once again, but the focus is not on them this time around, oh no. Although throughout the story, you'll receive word from COMMANDER Welkin and Sergeant-Of-The-Lance Alicia, the focus is instead on the VII Regiment and their daughter, Isara Gunther. With the development of Artificial Valkyria, they are considered Europa's answer to the real-world's nuclear weapons and Isara and her mother are tasked with countering any attempts by the enemy to use these terrifying weapons of mass destruction. Fighting in a new, mixed regiment of armour, infantry and customisable fire-support batteries, including mortars, artillery and radar, as well as bomber and fighter aircraft and a new paradigm in warfare, in the form of troop-carrying helicopters and parachute planes for when you need re-enforcements in the field NOW, it's your job to take the VII Regiment through fire and back again to secure peace, freedom and the rise of a new superpower that might finally bring an end to the constant wars that plague Europa.
New mission types could include severing the enemy's lines of communication and supply, beach assaults from landing craft, supported by the Gallian Navy and rapid-insertion attacks via aircraft, making heavy use of a new advance to the shocktrooper class - the paratrooper branch!
Fight the war to end all wars in Valkyria Chronicles 4 - Beneath the Clear Blue Sky."
You hear that, Sega? That one's free. Use it. And for the love of god, make it a PS3 release!
Ok, but I also want a third faction, which invades Gallia at a late point in the war: the Kamuan Dominion. They want Gallia because of its strategic location so it can then turn on the Empire and the Federation with its superior military once they claim and establish a foothold and divide the two factions. They are more powerful than the forces of the Federation or the Empire. The Kamuans are gaining the upper hand slowly, with their ragnite laser emmitters and battlestation tanks not to mention tactical nukes. Gallia becomes desparate and asks for an alliance with the empire and the federation. Both refuse at first, until the Kamuans, seeing that the Gallians are putting up more a resistance than expected, invades both factions. After the Kamuans learn of this pact, they decide to bring their full military to bear, and the supreme commander, against the wishes of the dictator of the dominion, opens the gates to hell's maw in an ancient temple and releases demons into the world, and infuses his blood with demon blood so demons will follow him. It is later revealed that the one who first suggested the idea of launching a preemptive strike on the empire was an agent of the Kamuan dominion, knowing that the attack would weaken both forces and leave them vulnerable to a Kamuan invasion. Eventually, Squad VII exposed the treachery and pursued the traitor, whose name was Jorgen Alrich. Tragically, they learn of his true colors when he kills Gallia's best general and the princess's son and takes their blood to a transport to the supreme commander, knowing that it would be sacrificed to make the demons more obedient. They then fight him with a host of Kamuan troops and he is wearing a unique powered armor with a mighty chaingun in one hand and a multi-missile launcher on his back that barrages an area with missiles. The chaingun can damage vehicle armor and he uses it either by slowly sweeping a conelike area with it or fires it in one direction. The final battle is against the supreme commander, who has become part immortal demon, part man with a host of demons and troops. At one point, the dictator intervenes and orders many of the troops to follow him, his troops will be your allies, as the dictator knows that the supreme commander threatens his power as well as that of other leaders of the world. Colors of the factions: Gallia: Blue; Empire: Black; Federation: White; Kamuan(Enemy): Red; and Kamuan(Ally): Orange. I also want the class name changes in this game ie. Scouts become Rangers, Shock Troopers become Assault Troopers, Lancers become Tank Hunters, Engineers become Technicians, Snipers become Sharpshooters, Armored Soldiers/Shield Guards become Sentinels. I also want the Support Gunner (which becomes Battle Gunner) class in this as well as the armored car vehicle Class. The squad will include a customizable armored car known as the Lightning. Also, enemies make sounds when they die and enemy leaders make a speech when they fall.

My thoughts on what VC4 could possibly be like is in a cold war turned hot situation. The Feds and Imps are stockpiling Artificial Valkyrur in replacement of the ICBMs in our world.
Anyway, I want Izzy (Isara Gunther, daughter of Welks and Alicia at the end of VC1) to be the hero of this story, while Maximillian's daugher/son/no one cares is blood-thirsty for revenge on the Gunthers. Before you know it, Gallia's a battlefield once again. And Alexis (my variation of Maxie's daugher/son/no one cares) kills Welkin and Alicia and leaves Izzy for dead. That's what I think, anyway.
