SEGA Permanently switching to Classic Sonic

Classic Sonic format coming back would be a dream come true for me. Unfortunately, Sega would rather eat their shoes than retrogress. It seems that although the Sonic Team would love to work in classic format, Sega wants them to push their fancy new technology (e.g. 3D models, HD quality levels and cutscenes, voices for characters, etc).

It may also be worth taking into account that a lot of people really like the new format of Sonic. I, and many other people, however, just keep living in the now-distant past with our Geneses (What is the plural of "Genesis?") and drown out the surface world.

All in all, Sonic Generations will probably be Sega's most successful Sonic game, as it appeals to a much wider audience than ever before, and is across multiple platforms. It will be nice to see Sonic restored to his former glory, if only temporarily, then fade into the shadows once more.

There's no way that Sega is permanently switching to Classic Sonic. As much kids they might like C.Sonic in Generations, many grew up with modern, current Sonic and would hate to see him get replaced.

This is 2011, not 1991. Back then, Sonic was most marketable to kids. Guess who he is most marketable to now: kids. Today's kids have grown up on Modern Sonic like how older fans have grown up on Classic. At this point, there is no way they'll downgrade him.

i think it would work, give him his attitude and good gameplay and try to do a simple storyline like in the originals.

I think there going in a good direction with what there doing now. No changes necessary. I would like to see a game with storyline like the sonic adventure series and gameplay like colors and what generations will have. All with modern sonic and the whole cast of characters.

Nah. Impossible. They wouldn't just abandon the Modern design after so much development.
They might use both in conjunction, but not ONLY Classic.

Batman Arkham City allows the player to decide which costume / skin to utilize.... a simple solution to make all of us happy.

I'm okay with new Sonic, but I hope they do at least keep around classic Sonic for downloadable sidescrollers and the such.

I think classic sonic is, sadly, no longer going to appear.
