I need to get the name of this game fast!!!

I need serious help on thinking of this game. I used to play this game all the time when i was little and i cant think of the name at all, ive been searching forever and i just cant find it. All i remember it was a role playing game with a side view like mario or somthing. It had pretty good graphics too. i remember the first level you start off having to avoid these little worms with poison teeth that came at you, and you where in some kind of mine with aliens that you had to free. also there were guards and stuff. Pleez i know this is bland. but i HAVE TO GET THE NAME OF THIS GAME!!!!!!!!
