This. I had Bejing 2008 for since Spring of 2008, and I thought it was okay, but nothing too special. Just last holiday season at the end of 2011, I got Vancouver 2010 and London 2012, and they are much better than the original. I may even go as far as saying the latter two may be my favorite spinoffs and sports games to both series.
I proudly support the ideas of a Mario and Sonic platformer crossover for Wii U and 3DS!

As it's a family game starring recognizable characters in a recognizable event where the world comes together.
I've enjoyed the Olympic series and it seems a fitting ground for Mario and Sonic to settle their rivalry through good sporting competition.
I've genuinely found the games fun to play, although "London Party Mode" could use some improvement (I really hate the "page trade" ghost). I've always wanted to get to know the Sonic characters a bit better but I've never been very good at Sonic games. These are actually my favorite games in the Sonic series despite being a spin-off.
A friend of mine got quite angry when I said this, and yelled at me that they "aren't real Sonic games and are just casual party games" and got upset with me for liking them.

Sounds like an immature friend who can't handle the truth.
You'd think the "They aren't real Sonic games!" line of thinking wouldn't be so popular, what with this series making more real money than any of those other Sonic games.
But that's exactly why they use it, to try and discredit those of us who like them as being sub-human "casuals" or something silly like that.
Gamers these days... doing their best to suck the fun out of gaming. :/
Because seeing Sonic on a horse is amazing
Though playing multiple player in these games can be rather fun.
You know, given the recent news that Mario and Sonic London is topping the charts here still, I'm beginning to wonder if its success now is because of the UK going into Olympic hype. The UK/Europe are usually a big contributor to Sonic's sales anyway, one at London is going to be gold for them.

That's definitely playing into it Pur-Rulz, just like I believe it did for the Vancouver game in that region.
But yeah, it should do even better thanks to this one being set in London. This series was such a smart endeavor for SEGA, and with the next Winter Games set in Europe too, I don't see the series struggling going forward.(at least sales wise, they are very capable of dumb design choices, obviously)
I had the first one, Broke. Never bothered with the series again , extremely fun game though.
