The Future of the Mario and Sonic series

Well recently ive been busy in college but ive also been playing Mario and Sonic at the London Olympic Games for the 3DS and i must honestly say i really did enjoy this game. The most enjoyable for me was the story and how well it was told and we got to see how well the characters interacted with each other and even though Mario, Luigi, and Sonic were must you could still see how there friendship has grown.

Another thing i liked about the game is how it referenced past games, if you pay attention closely enough you will see that the game references how Bowser dislikes it when he isnt invited into events (like in Mario Super Sluggers), They reference the events of the Sonic Rush games and how Sonic and Blaze defeated Dr.Eggman Nega, The Sonic Riders games, Sonic Rivals with how Shadow and Silver are allies along with how Tails mentioned how Eggman Nega is a descendant of Eggman in the distant (which leads me to believe that he is the same person in both Sonic Rush and Rivals).

However there are some things i want to address for the future of the series once it moves on to the Wii U along with a new updated version on the 3DS.

-Dream Events: Yea we all were disappointed to hear how Dream Events were not added within the game but i will be honest even though the game lacked Dream Events it was still very enjoyable and i secretly count the BMX as a Dream Event just cause of how awesome it is. I actually came up with a few more ideas for Dream Events for the next Mario and Sonic's Winter adventure.

Dream Snowboard Cross: (previous said idea): Like i said before they could create a Dream Snowboarding event in the Generations version of City Escape.

Dream Snowball fight: In my previous thread i remember someone said they wanted to see the Koopalings make an appearance and because of this i thought why not add a 7 vs 7 snow ball fight outside the mushroom kingdom and make the Koopalings a boss.

Dream Short Track: I thought it would be a fun idea to do this event in Shiverburn Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy 2 as its made out of a mixture of both icy and lava like environments which would be fun to play on at an event.

Dream Gliding: In this last event i thought it would be fun to fly around Wild Glide Galaxy from SMG2 since it was so enjoyable to fly around that level and i did love the music, im sure sega could make a great remix of it too.

-Online Play: The game was very enjoyable and i really wish i could have played Online with my friends to see who would win in a match of Tennis (Singles), Beach Volleyball (yep thats right i enjoyed that one lol), and the contact sporting events. Now with the series moving on to the Wii U (which also focuses more on Online play) now could be a great time to include online play with friends and other people online for both the Wii U version and 3DS version so i really do hope Sega adds it this time.

- 4 More characters: Im starting to see a pattern now i believe they will only add new characters when the Winter Oympics arrive since the characters from both series are so limited so now i hope to see Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Rouge, and Jet the hawk. I heard some people also want Espio in the game but in reality i wouldn't really mind so long as Rosalina and Jet are playable.

If they add these improvements plus more im sure the series would be much more enjoyable to play and im personally excited to see the series hit the Wii U. So now we wait until November 2013 for when the next Mario and Sonic comes out. Now what do you guys think? Let me know what ideas you have for the next game or if you really like my ideas let me know below lol.

I think the referees and the rivals in the events like Festival and London Party should be changed to characters from other SEGA or Nintendo franchises. Some of the characters that act as rivals or referees really deserved a little more attention than some of the others. I don't know a better solution than the inclusion of other franchise characters to fix that. I can't deny that I wouldn't enjoy seeing Link, Kirby, AiAi, or BD Joe as referees or rivals in the Olympics. Mii figures would also work well for a referee replacement too if you're not playing as one. I'm not saying I want anyone replaced, but I think some of the linup did not include a select few of the somewhat more major characters in the series.

Dream Events that should be brought back for the next Winter Games should be Dream Gliding in one of the galaxies that had Fluzzard in Super Mario Galaxy 2. I also agree with you for Dream Short Track and where it should take place. All of the Dream Ski, Snowboard, etc. should be brought back as well.

As for areas that I'd like to see represented in the Dream Events, I find it odd how Green Hill Zone hasn't been one of them. I must point out that I just never get enough of Seaside Hill, though. Other stage designs that look interesting would be the Mushroom Kingdom as it appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, preferably the SNES version. A stage that resembles Yoshi's Island from Super Mario World would be great. If you seen how it was remade in Super Smash Bros. Melee, that's pretty much a good summary of why I'd like it. Other Sonic areas that should included should be Planet Wisp and Rooftop Run.

Just a few suggestions I could think of, even though some of them may not be too good.

But a "real" crossover already happened.
They just had a lot more Nintendo characters

I would love that other franchise rivals idea. Facing off against Pikachu, Bayonetta, and Nights would be great. I would also prefer a Mario and Sonic JRPG.
