Default PSO2 Announced for PlayStation Vita

Is anyone actually surprised by this given how well the PSP games did? Yeah, I didn't think so. Coming in 2013 and will apparently support cross-platform play.

What is interesting is that it's actually being called "Phantasy Star Online 2" and not "Phantasy Star Victory" (one of the names Sega trademarked earlier) as a few people were anticipating.

I am surprised, actually. Having cross-platform play and the ability to use your same characters leaves me all tingly inside. Definitely buying a Vita sometime in the future. To really make this icing on the cake, Sega needs a western announcement.

Default Pso 2 for psp vita

So check out Pso world...they announced that pso2 for psp vita.... And it will be on the same sever as the pc and crossplatform in parties too....now surely if they can slap this on the vita they can on one of the console....so for all those who said its pc only cause of cross platforming and other issues I suggest you think again!!!!! This just proves they can put it on whatever they want.....the question is will they!!!

Sega just loves sony. If they can put it on the vita the xbox should be able to run the game, all this talk how the xbox couldnt run the graphics but they can put it on the psp vita.

It's not going on the consoles. Deal with it. It's more ideal to be on PC and Vita. What ultimately holds the game back from going onto the 360 is MS' terrible restrictions with its online setup. Especially when it comes to cross-platform.

Well I'm a little disappointed tbh , I wanted the psp series to continue but never mind , it makes sense on the vita because there isnt a handheld pc , so you can play pso2 at home at work , on a train etc. The game is only 10 percent complete and another team is working on it rather than the pc version , probably just porting it etc.

weirdly I bought a pc recently so I would be ready for pso2 hmm now I'm not sure I'm going to buy a vita or not , but I did spend 300 pounds less on my pc so I could buy a vita for a new phantasy star game but its pso2 hmm. Hopefully you can use a keyboard on the vita and then you are sorted , makes sense why they didn't include a tv adaptor for the vita now. More news will be announced next week.

At least my short sighted friend wont miss out he was a bit upset he wasnt going to be able to play psv on ps vita. Strange why it isnt on the pc and ps3 , would be like the old days of psu. Oh and as I said the other day there is a rumour about a console phantasy star game anyway , heres hoping...

apparently Sakai always planned for the game to be on home consoles, so now all you PC supremistists can stop bragging, game seems it wasn't only made with PC in mind =P

While the Vita version is clearly early, the decision to release the game on something other than the PC is not. Sakai said that the staff was thinking about releasing the game in some form on a home platform ("home platform" means consoles or portables) from the moment they decided to make PSO2 on PC. The reasoning behind this is that PSO was itself originally a home console title (PSO on Dreamcast). Also, the PSP Phantasy Star Portable games were popular.

As detailed in the video, the Vita and PC versions will share the same servers. Also, your character can be played on both systems. For this reason, the Vita version will be an online exclusive game, and its play data will be saved on the servers. Sakai noted that this is a great difference from past Phantasy Star Portable games, but remarked that you could say it's something they're able to try out because of the Vita.
