Rather no point in getting excited. If Sega didn't care to bring mainline VC game to west there's 0% chance they will do so for spinoff

At some point I think Sega ought to pass VC off to a Western developer for a game or two, just to see what happens.

Of course, i could see that going wrong by means of the Western Developer just taking The Easy Route(T)M and ripping off Cowadoody.

Sorry but that is a horrible idea.

I just finished the main game of Valkyria Chronicles, which was amazing and going to start VC 2 soon. I wish this Valkyria Duel was like PS3 HD ports of the two PSP games. I already own both VC 1 and 2, but would love to play Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Why? Because you can read Japanese and don't care about an English localization? SEGA did already a horrible job with this franchise, VC 2 is on a system for little kids (as the main story is), VC3 is M.I.A., and who knows about VC 4? Something gotta give or this wonderful game is all but dead (expect, maybe, in Japan).

It's a uniquely Japanese game. Giving it to a western developer would be like giving Call of Duty to a Japanese developer.

You say passing CoD to a Japanese developer as though it's a bad thing - a Japanese produced Call of Duty would break the mold it's formed for itself, and for reference Japan does, on occasion, produce a decent FPS. I don't think a canonized game-with-a-number would be given to a Western Developer at first, but at this point in time I really want to see a Western VC-styled game at least tried out, just to see if a developer could handle it, and how it would fare.

Make DICE or the guys who developed the first two Star Wars Battlefront games (Yes, I know Pandemic is gone) do it. It would be the greatest anime-style class-based shooter ever!

But more back on topic, I keep thinking that Valkyria Duel might focus primarily on the Valkyrur in some way. Maybe some sort of Valkyria versus game?

    No, they really don't.

Take a look at the Silent Hill series and the recent Resident Evil ORC to see what happens when big Japanese franchises get farmed out to western developers. It's done on the cheap and for a quick turn around and the end result looks, sounds and plays just wrong. It wouldn't be Valkyria Chronicles as we know and love it!

It also isn't a good idea to alienate the only territory where your series has actually been very successful.

    Yasashii,

I don't want to be a jerk and I respect your pride as a Japanese, but your logic does not make any sense. Do you enjoy pizza or western cars in Japan, don't you? As we do enjoy many Japanese products (I own a Toyota, for example) in the US. Finding a producer that cares for a good game is better than leaving a game to rot. You can still enjoy your Japanese-only VCs, but we would love to have sequels as well. BTW, so that you know my biases, I don't even care for the story or the anime setting (this is why VC 2 is hard to swallow for me), I enjoy immensely the BLITz system, and I'd love other games to use it (properly).
