Using a PS2 emulator and its upscaling settings. I just finished playing my Yakuza 1 game disk at 1080p, 60fps with 8x anti-aliasing.
Very sweet. Posting some screens now.

are you playing on the oldschool PS3 or is this an emulator on the PC?
I have the 2nd gen PS3 so thats when they removed the PS2 BC, card reader and usb ports.

I played Yakuza 1 and 2 on the old ps3 with hardware backwards compatibility it upscaled a little but not as much as in that video. That one's straight up a PS2 emulator with the settings cranked. It does look all sorts of awesome.

i dont really play anything on my PC so i am pretty much a noob when it comes to this stuff...so i have a few dumb questions.

like 10 years ago my friend hooked me up with an arcade emulator with a bunch of roms...is this in the same sense as that or will this emulator read your disc copy of the games and beef up the visuals?

Both, if you have a copy of the iso file or the real disk it will upgrade the visuals. My screenshots are from the real disk version but it works the same either way.

I'd buy HD Remasters for Yakuza 1+2 as well as the PSP titles in a heartbeat. Not getting my hopes up for a "Classics HD" Release on Blu-ray though. I don't even know what Sega is doing anymore...how long have they been holding on to the supposedly finished Shenmue for XBLA now? It's just stupid.

I like lots of the above options especially the Kurohyou dramas. I prefer physical copies instead of PSN releases..
