    It's quite different from that. It's not just the animation, if you let go of the jump button he would still launch himself.

    If you actually watch the video, you'll see that both Sonic and Tails fall after trying to brake on the edge.

    If Sega still has problems with physics in the end they could take the Bioware route and say "Physics problems? No, its a feature!"

    Iizuka pretty much said that in regards to the automatic ceiling-running in episode 1.
