I don't think any Sonic game is "the last good Sonic game". (except, for right now, Sonic Generations.)

Sonic 06
Sonic Spinball. It gets too much love for what it is.
Sonic Adventure: Just the alternate gameplay is enough to bring this game down, but playing as Sonic himself is just a broken mess, you could barely control him when he was running fast, and the camera just made thing much, much worse. It is the most overrated Sonic game of all time because it isn't even that good of a game to begin with, this game began the downfall of this franchise, yet people praise it as if it's the best thing ever invented by mankind.
Sonic Unleashed: Daytime stages consist of just running forward while holding the boost button and simply crashing everything in your way, and it's a bit trial and error as you may have to memorize some parts because you can be just running fast when suddenly you get hit or die without even knowing what the hell happened. The platforming sections of these stages just don't work, because the jump button doesn't respond properly when Sonic is running a bit slower, i've lost count of how many times i pressed the jump button, but just ran through the platform and fell to my death. The Night Stages are bad for obvious reasons.
Sonic 4: Yeah, people hated it, but i think it deserved lower scores, this goes for both Episodes 1 and 2.

funny how the physics of that game were worse and less "pinball"-like than the regular Sonic platformers
yeah, Spinball doesn't even feel like a Sonic game. And on its own it's a bad pinball game too when you have stuff like Psycho Pinball I think it's called. But I guess some people have nostalgia for it

I'm a fan of the gameboy version myself.
I'm having difficulty trying to beat the last level when the one before it wasn't even that hard.funny how the physics of that game were worse and less "pinball"-like than the regular Sonic platformers
