Default Again with the Optimus problems -__-

This is a joke, for the same reason I was unable to play Sonic Generations (work-arounds do not work). I have a Geforce 555M card, updated to the last drivers, not working. What's funny is how I checked some guide with known problems and glitches. Here's what they say about the problem:

    Laptops With Nvidia Optimus Technology

Laptops with Optimus technology have dual graphic cards, an integrated Intel HD as the main GPU, and an Nvidia GPU as the secondary.
When running the Binary Domain on some of these systems we noticed that the technology wouldn't switch over to the Nvidia card like it was supposed to. This caused for some players to experience the following issues:

    • Black screens when starting up Binary Domain.
    • Intel HD graphics will be set as Primary for the 3D application. (my problem)
    • Possible crash of Binary Domain.

Those drivers can be download directly from the Nvidia site.
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Here's a link to Nvidia's site for more information on Optimus technology:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html

Note: Lot of laptop manufacturers will modify drivers to only work on their systems. Installing a non-modified driver could potentially cause some compatibility issues. I recommend that you contact your laptop manufacturer before attempting to update the driver to ensure that this update will not hurt your system in any way.

The vagueness which is probably on purpose, just leaves me perplexed. ''Those drivers can be downloaded...'' what drivers? These links lead you to the driver page for nvidia, but I don't see how this is supposed to do us any good. The latest drivers do not fix the problem, not even the problems of Sonic Generations. So if I read this correctly, they are aware of the problem, but shall not fix it?

    Man, this is really annoying.

There's a fix for Sonic Generations that, according to users in the Steam forums, also works for Binary Domain:

For Binary Domain, the config file is located in steam\steamapps\common\binary domain\savedata, it's the UserCFG.txt file.

Also, in the Binary Domain Configuration program you can choose what graphic adapter to use of your own choice.
Signatures sucks, especially signature images. Which is why I have them off, so I never see the blasted things.

Thanks guys, but as I stated, the workarounds do not fix anything for me.

The fix requires you to check your resolution settings and detect your screens. There's supposed to be several ones found, one for my intel card, one for my nvidia one, however, only the intel one shows up for me. Without getting my nvidia card to show up, I do not know the exact names for my graphics card and display number. So I tried changing the config file to NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, but this alone is not enough. There's a screen number attached to each graphics card which looks like ''d7b78e66-4256-11cf-fd56-b424b7c2c535''. Without knowing the correct one for me, it shall not work.

It still gives me an error when I start the game saying my selected graphics device is invalid.

Thanks, but I'm still hoping for a new fix, because I'm tired of wasting hours of my time just trying to get these games to work without success.

Can you show a picture from your device manager? (Prt Sc button, paste on paint, save as jpeg, upload to imageshack or a similar website).

Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, thank you so much. While making screens, I was able to find my graphics card in there and all needed information as well. Apparently there were about 9 spaces that came after NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, which all had to be copied over. I hope it works for Sonic Generations too!

Again thank you, it's still a shame that Sega hasn't fixed it. Cause I've spent hours trying to get this to work, but ah well, that's PC gaming for ya
