After Burner's iconic theme really has to be there. It stands near toe-to-toe with Space Harrier's as a staple of SEGA's classic music. Hell, Gryptonite even made a stage in Shinobi for 3DS entirely as a tribute to After Burner and slapped the theme for when you fought Neo Zeed soldiers on a speeding Tomcat.

Man, I really can't wait to have a hand at the game's soundtrack.

You'll probably hear Richard J variation of After Burner as he is going to compose the music for the game. I would like for him to make a rearrange version of Muddy from The House of the Dead 2.

So I finally decided to get myself a Bonus Edition pre-order.


Question: Will this promotion stand until the day before its release? I WANT to get this, but I want to wait until I at least get a pay check (or as long as early november) to get this.

I'm lead to believe so, in fact it might also be available a short time after release. Can't promise though!

Question: Were secondary characters from non-Sonic games ever considered for the first game (such as Gum, Pudding, or Meemee)?

Sort of. We didn't really have the one character in a vehicle rule for ASR, so we could squeeze in say Jacky and Akira into one car. Mind you we didn't have transforming vehicles to worry about well except for Eggmans All-Star move!). As you've seen so far for this one, we've tried to use another character when it happens to add more female characters (hence Gum) or to give players a chance to pick another character from an IP they like (hence Reala).

Are there more. Probably :P

Someone mentioned in an article back during E3 or around there the JSR track will have cops. Will there be police chases?

Also, in the wake of new news: Nintendo Power recently confirmed Gum from Jet Set radio as playable. Does she have the same vehicle and/or stats as Beat, and if not, could you at least give us a basic description of her vehicle?

Gum still has a quad, but it's different to Beats. Think of them getting the same base model of vehicle and then pimping it out in their own ways. If you look at Reala, whilst the transformation is much in the same way as NiGHTS, it's clear a whole new model set with totally different animations. To us, they're not secondary characters, but perfectly valid alternate choices.

Will there be police in the new Jet Set Radio... Maybe :P

Oh, and another question.

I know there will be land-only tracks (such as the returning ones)

But will we be able to play in AIR-only and WATER-only tracks as well?

All the new tracks (as Beat correctly points out) have at least two surfaces in them (i.e. land, air or sea). Some have all three. We can lock the tracks into given configurations though. So sometimes a track that normally has land and air, or land and sea in, will be just land. Same goes for the other two.

Any more secondary characters from any other SEGA IPs? (without saying which IP does of course).

I personally am not bothered by it at all, but I think some people would like to know now. lol

I wager Super Monkey Ball has one more rep, but that's just me.

Can Vita players play against PS3 users, and if not, how powerful is the Vita vs the PS3/360 in terms of getting the game all onto that small cart?

As previous post, yep, there will be some more. Get used to it

Vita is actually pretty powerful, but not quite up there with the 360 and PS3. We're not doing any kind of cross play though, we've using the time instead to polish all each of the platforms up as best we can.

Is a certain All-'STAR' in this game by any chance?

But, they're all Stars in this game? You saw the title right? :P

I'm glad, throwing a fit at anything is bad for the health! All the new music is remixed and dynamic, but we pull on what we consider to be the iconic music. I think we've got this track, but in new shiny Rich Jacques form!

What would you guys say is the most feel-good moment about developing these games?

The start when it's all ideas in your head, and the end when it's all (mostly there) on screen. I looked over from my desk about 8ish tonight, and saw a character you're going to love racing on the OutRun track. Both of which were things that I put forward as ideas for the game. I almost shed a tear it was so beautiful

Having such a talented and dedicated bunch dealing with all the random ideas and making them happen - that's also one of my major pleasures...!

Thanks for the answer S0L! Seeing as it looks like the "secondary" (I hate this term as much as you guys do, especially when Gum and Reala are practically just as important as Beat and NiGHTS) have been very carefully picked so far, I look forward to some of the other characters. Just leave room for some more Genesis and Modern characters!

And I personally love the idea you have with Beat and Gum! I like how characters within the same series have a form of consistency to them, but have things to make them unique as well.

Also, does this practically confirm Meemee? :P
