If the PSO2 community is anything like the PSU 360 community then trust me, there will be. It's inevitable.

Well, from what I noticed in the Closed Beta, there were only a small handful of 'idle monkeys' that hung out in the lobby (usually doing one of the dance emotes). But, not too many. May change, though.

I don't know if I like the idea of a cash shop. I don't want to buy my way through the game. Besides..... I haven't paid to play in quite awhile.

The way the cash shop is used for PSO2 you can't buy your way through the game. You can't even do that with the PSU cash shop on the JP servers. PSO2's cash shop is pretty much novelty items, luxury items, and optional features like having a room and player shop, additional character slots, etc. You can't just drop a bunch of money and instantly get max level with the best gear in the game though.

It's due to be out 'early Summer' according to Sakai and SEGA of Japan. Keep your eyes out for the Open Beta test.
