[Forums Suggestion] Platforms Section = Gaming Section

Not sure where to post this.

Instead of having each individual section for each platform, what if it was just one entire "Gaming" section?
Having "Official" threads would make more sense, and it would make everything easier to access.

Not only that, but it would also make threads and posting more popular due to having more attention of being in one section.

And lets face it, the Microsoft section is barely used and the PS3 section is on life support. Most of the threads in the Nintendo section are news based and rumor stuff. Since the rumors are tied to one thread now, expect the rate of threads being created to slow down drastically.

Also, there is the occasional "LOL DERP WHY SONY SECTION AND NOT MICROSOFT".

It's also gotten to the point where people will post stuff in the Nintendo section just so their thread gets the popularity they want.

It could work, but keep in mind the console wars.

Eeeh, I don't know. I think it's more organized as it is now. Plus, I think it's really cool that there's a place to go talk about SEGA-specific hardware on a SEGA site. :P A General Gaming section for general topics (like E3) would be nice, but for that we have the Lounge. Besides... I can't really imagine fans of any system on this site to be happy with chocolate in their peanut butter, if you know what I mean.

I'd suggest if you want to make the other forums more useful/active, just post in them more.

I'd like a unified gaming discussion board as well.

It's a great suggestion, it really is, but i really like that there is one for each Company. I understand that some aren't as popular as others, but that's just because there's been more Nintendo news than anything. I mean the 3DS and Wii U get a lot of attention, but i'm certain once E3 comes around more discussions will open up in other threads as well. I'd wait until after E3 or so before anything should be changed.

There are more reasons for this. The same posters post in nearly all the platforms sections, so at the same time it's really just a waste of space to have them in multiple sections as well.

It gets even more confusing when there are titles that are on all three platforms and people make multiple threads for each section, then get locked later because one already exists in another section. I personally find that it'd make a lot more sense to be a "Gaming Community" then a specific brand community.
