Sega should try to remake the first two games to begin with. It does represent work, but they are fantastic games. I play them very often on my Saturn.

As much as I'd like to see a port of Zwei, Orta would seem like the best candidate for a XBLA/PSN release. The game was technically very impressive in its time, and with an HD upgrade it wouldn't even be trailing that far behind Crimson Dragon in terms of graphics (and it runs in 60fps). It would also be a great way of testing the waters in terms of a re-release for the Saturn games.

Panzer dragoon saga would be very hard to remake. They lost data for it. Its my fav game too! Its still not impossible but its very unlikely.

It would be difficult, but the lack of source code doesn't have to be a deal breaker. Read this for example:

Using legacy code is not always be the best way to create the best possible HD re-master. Bluepoint's track record with God of War, Metal Gear, and Team Ico's game shows that their method might be preferable: Don't use old code, use the finished game itself.

"We don't use archive data," says O'Neil, "We take retail discs of the game and reverse engineer them. That way we can be 100% sure we have all the final retail data and that it matches up. That takes a lot time. Then to get it working, we basically have to go in and change every single piece of data. We get the code and we use that to build a PC version of the game."

These guys made some of the best HD remasters around and they intentionally didn't even use the source code. Just goes to show that it's probably not the biggest obstacle here.

At this point. If you were remaking Saturn games I don't think you'd care about source code or even the data on the retail game so much. You'd pretty much have to remake them from the ground up since they're a bit "primitive" now and have such a low polygon count compared to modern games.
