Sonic Gameplay/ Design getting Major Revamp?

I just heard from a source online that the Sonic series may get an entirely new game play style.

I hope it's not True, Generations' Modern stages are some of the most fun Sonic experiences I have ever played, and are a perfect example for the future. Plus, with Sonic finally redeeming himself in the eyes of casual gamers, introducing a new game play style might hurt the franchise.

Oh, and also they might introduce a 3rd(4th if you count '06's design) for Sonic. Which is a terrible idea. The Sonic fandom is already fighting over which Sonic is superior, and we don't need a third design in this chaos.

As I said, last time this happened, we got ourselves Sonic 06. Sega is not that stupid. Besides, everybody but total morons loved Generations, esp. Modern stages, radically changing gameplay style after the one 3D game that made general public think that Sonic is good again is not really smart.
