Thread: Valkyria Duel revealed (Browser game)

This is good and bad news to me. Good that Valkyria Chronicles Duel is keeping the franchise alive. Bad, I still want to be able to play Valkyria Chronicles 3, would have preferred a VC 1 and 3 port to the Vita or PS3.

I'd probably get this if it was on PSN. From the trailer, it reminds me a lot of Advance Wars with a real time strategy feel to it, along with units as cards.

Kind of surprised at this as well. We know Vita/PSN (PS3) have had F2P games before so it seems kind of stupid to not offer it for the platforms where the fanbase is already. They could still keep the browser/mobile approach but why not throw it out there for PSN as well? Maybe with some perks for game saves (special cards or booster packs; whatever they can do in that regard).

Not really surprised by this title and its premise, SEGA's been specifying that they were going more towards a digital retail based publisher as noted in recent SEGA news when they announced the restructing a few months back and todays news of several of the SEGA of Europe offices being shutdown along with Australia.

Actually the restructure is also being applied to SEGA of Japan, While nothing over at SEGA of Japan got "shutdown" so to speak as the offices in the West did, but SEGA of Japan was ordered by Parent company SEGA Sammy Holdings to create a digital development subsidiary named SEGA Networks. SEGA Networks will focus on creating digital titles and ways to provide them. This Valkyria Duel game is in line with their goal of being a digital retail power.

Never said it was Valkyria Chronicles 4 lol

So has anyone else decided to play the game? The Gallian Liberation Front Facebook page has been posting guides and such for English speaking users to get started in the game and so far, I'm enjoying it.

I have. It's not bad. Definitely not the VC we know and love, but it's entertaining in its own way. maybe not so much for the game play itself as the return of something VC. When I get enough TP to buy a card for example, I enjoy recognizing and building up my star team from the original games. Guess that's why I never keep too many of the VC3 cards for too long. Just for lols, on the other world I'm getting a super trained squad of standard Gallian soldiers, just to see how it works. Surprisingly decent once you get a few shock troopers and a Lv. 5 Lancer

I'm currently using a rag-tag group. Been thinking of throwing a VC1 squad together for my main but I'm lacking Welkin. Got an Alicia, Rosie and Largo card though. Might run a VC2 squad in it's place for now (have Avan, Cosette, Zeri and enough of their class to make something work). It's just right now, even with my best cards, I'm getting decimated since ranking up earlier so I know if I mess with the formula, I'll be in more trouble but at the same time, I'm tempted to experiment to see if Potentials/Combinations offset/equal what I lose with the changes.

    EDIT: Current squad of mine:

Should pull the other training ground out of storage to up the one x1.0 I have and gain a bit more in my attack.
